Loved the food, great choices for all types of diet. Products and their provenance are in the forefront, just as we believe it should be. Very interesting wine list, all natural or organic. We will come back.

Great restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere. Loved the simple, but stylish interior. My friend and I couldn't choose between the different dishes on the menu, so we decided to share some dishes between the two of us, so we could try everything. I liked the...concept that offers you the possibility to combine everything on the menu: no discrimination between starters, main courses and desserts! The food was really good: prepared with fresh ingredients and lovely presented. Especially the smaller, cold dishes were very tasty. And the oyster with cucumber and sake was outstanding. The pasta should have been a little warmer though. When it got served it was lukewarm and after a few more bites it was just cold. Luckily the excellent wines we drank made up for that. The waiter who brought our food was very friendly and made us feel right at home. Had a very nice chat with him. A lovely evening. Would definitely return to this restaurant to try some other dishes.More
We had a great experience at brutal! We were sitting outside while it was warm but grey. The wonderful staff brought out the food which we chose from a nice variety on the menu and it all tasted amazing. As some drops of rain fell...from the sky, the owner did a raindance for us and like a miracle the skies cleared! We continued the feast of pork/chicken/portobello which was amazing until a wasp started to harass us.. The waitress, as the hero she was, threw herself in front and rescued us from the threat so we could further enjoy our lovely syrah wine from Valencia. Amazing experience. Will return many times.More
Had dinner at this very nice looking and atmospheric restaurant (on the 7th of March 2020). The food was ok, but really not great. Starter of salmon and beetroot (they forgot the creme on top of the beetroot, we later realized, so it lacked a...specific taste) and onglet as a main. This meat was very very chewy, I did not finish it because of that. The thing we where mostly not so enthusiastic about was the waitress, we asked her what the glass of cava costs that she offered us as an aperitif, she answered 5 euro. On the bill where two glasses of €8,50 a piece. When we mentioned this, the waitress just said she was sorry. When I said that it would be more then reasonable to let us pay the €5,- that was told to us, but she wouldn't do that. Not really recommended.More
We had a great diner with super friendly staff definitely will return to this restaurant which is not in the torust region.
We went to Brutal Saturday evening. The restaurant is really nice, minimal with few dishes on the nanu but really selected. We prefer few selection, usually it means attention and fresh raw material. Our starter was a vegetarian selection, roasted leeks with fresh hazelnuts, for...main dish we have tried some beet ravioli really nice, and one wonderful salmon fillet, steamed inside a wood leaf served with a vanilla sauce, really well cooked, soft and juicy. Price correct for what we eat. Just one hint, considering Antwerp a multicultural and touristic city, why dont have a menu' in English or French?...the owner was really kind to translate for us all the dish on the menu'.More
Where to start. Brutal has exceptionally good service for this category : personal, very helpful, knows their wines and humour with a twist. The food is of a high standard even if bio. You can tell I am not a fan ;-) or should I...say ‘was’. Brutal changed my perception on this topic: rich, deep flavours, surprising combinations. I have been to much more expensive restaurants that do not even come close. Must try if you are in the area!!More
You really should try this place: great contemporary food, wines that could win prices, friendly staff!
Restaurant with excellent food and dishes and a very kind service. Not a winelist but a serie of bottles to choose. Special, very good dishes, you don’t eat everyday. A choice out of 2 meat, 2 fish as well as 2 vegan main dishes. Similar...choice in appetizers. Tasty desserts. Normal prices. Recommended!More
The food was great, the service was great... but we left with a bad feeling. In the starter (croquet) we discovered a large black hair. The waiter was very sorry about this and therefore we decided to stay, with the expectation everything would go well...after this accident. He offered a free glass of wine for both of us. The starter was too salty (fish) and the main course was great. After waiting for a very, very long time for the desert (which was nothing special) we received the bill. The starter was not removed from the bill and there was also a bottle of wine on the bill, that we certainly didn't order (we drank by the glass). The waiter was still very nice and (again) very sorry, but my opinion is that it's not only about words, but all about deeds. We left pretty disappointed. This was not the quality and service that we expected.More
Nothing fancy yet staff with a flair for service. Tasty options - yet limited wine list. Will come again !
I ate there with my son and his girlfriend before a concert in the Roma, and i think we all remember. 'Memorabel' is the word in Dutch. Looking forward to visit again.
We went here as were heading for "de Roma" to watch Billy Bragg and wanted to try a restaurant nearby. As soon as we walked in we were welcomed and felt at ease right away. The staff is really friendly and really makes you feel...at home. The interaction is really pleasant. And next up: the food... surprising combinations which turn out very good! The starters we had were the bore-carpaccio with code liver and the squid are both worth trying. For main course we had the deer pasty (not a vol au vent) and the pork with home-made kimchi, which were both also delicious. The apple crumble and cheese as dessert completed the fantastic meal. The wines, selected by the staff matched perfectly with all dishes, they know what they're doing.More
We really enjoyed our dinner at Brutal in one of Borgerhout's nicest areas. The menu is small and changes every season. Everything we had tasted truly amazing. Staff is friendly and very well informed.
This was a real gem, real close to the place we stayed in Antwerp, which we saw and was also recommended by our B&B owner. The food was excellent and the service was also very good.
