Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

For a work group of people having dinner together, this place has a policy of only accepting one credit card per table, no matter if there are no working ATMs close by. Never again, no flexibility in Grimbergen Café. Brussels has many nice places that...handle this very graciously, so I will never return here.More

I passed by here on a city tour and found my way back for dinner. I had the Flemish beef stew which was very good, slightly sweet because of the beer in the stew. I came back the next night and tried the mussels in...garlic cream sauce (it’s more of a broth) and it was even better. Had I been in the city another day I would have come back again. Its just a few minutes walk from the St. Catherine subway stop.More

Mussels quantity very low, one ok, other one 2/3rd or less. Below par customer service. Not willing to recognize despite evidence on full dish and pry dish. Maybe good for foreigners! Not recommended.

The decor was nice and staff was friendly. Beware - only takes CASH! So come prepared. We had mussels and beef stew but nothing really stood out food-wise. Average.

Great place, plenty of possibilities to taste Belgian dishes, a bit outside of the tourist place. One remark: we have asked for table at the window, waiter claimed if we have no reservation - he can only offer table in the middle, and just 5...mins later he offered window table for a local couple without reservation. This minor remark - influence your overall satisfaction from the place, despite the fact of tasteful dishes.More

Basic food but very good prepared. I enjoyed rabid prepared in beer. Good finger food en a great selection of beers. The only thing missing, if I’m allowed to give some improvement feedback, is a bigger selection of low alcohol beers.

Grimbergen is not very far from Grand Place (around 10 minutes walk) and we found it on the way to the Banksy Museum - very glad that we did! The staff were very friendly and the traditional Belgian food was excellent. The rabbit in Kreik...beer sauce was delicious. My mum had the stoempe with sausages which she found very tatsy. The portions are big so we made this our main meal of the day. The only downside was that we didn't have room for a dessert. I wish I'd gone back to try their Carbonnade Flamande. Maybe next time! One thing to note is that (at time of writing) they don't accept Visa or Mastercard so make sure you have cash.More

Two years ago today, I went to this restaurant while visiting Brussels after a recommendation from the hotel concierge. I promise you, the mussels provensale rank in the top 5 meals I’ve had in my LIFE. I still think about them to this day and...am determined to go back to Brussels to have them again.More

Quick and attentive service, great beer, and delicious food! Atmosphere is warm with a classic pub vibe. The escargot came out very quickly and was perfectly done with fresh parsley and garlic. Beer was ice cold. Sausage & mash was very tasty.

We were here again with a group of friends and had a wonderful meal. I had the mussels with garlic sauce and they were excellent. The beer is also delicious. While we had a good time, it's important to note that this restaurant does not...accept credit cards. They do accept debit cards and of course cash, but they only want to use two debit cards no matter how big your party is. This is very inconvenient. If you want to split the bill between multiple cards, tell the waiter beforehand.More

No nonsense good food. We came here within a span of ten months. Both times we arrived at 5:30pm before the restaurant got crowded. Both times we had steamed mussels and stew rabbit. The mussels were cooked in a white wine broth. There were no...empty shells and each piece was full and fresh. The broth was white wine based, with thyme, onion, parsley. The mussels came out perfect. Remember to do what the locals do. Use the shell to pull out the mussels meat. As for the rabbit, despite my Cantonese heritage, my American sensibility and stupidity had the better part of me. I left the entire dish to my better half. Therefore, no comment from me. Trappist beer went really well with the mussels, I might add.More

Classical brasserie, large menu with traditional Belgian dishes, eating all day. Not many people around , probably for a good reason. Food ok, but nothing more. Very standard although the setting is nice, but one can probably find better places to eat.

Stopped in on a Saturday just after 8:30, when our first choice restaurant in the area had no tables, and everywhere else was packed or closing soon. This place was close to our hotel and open later than other spots. To start, we had the...grey shrimp croquettes. It was pretty underwhelming because there weren’t much shrimp in there and what was in there was dry and rubbery. But the main courses were a bit better. Hubby had the filet americaine, aka beef tartare with frites and it was a huge portion. They def add mayo or some kind of sauce to it because the color is different than what we are used to in the states. I was hesitant about it at first just because it looks different but we both ate it and were fine, thankfully. Both this and the shrimp app came with a much appreciated salad. I had the mussels with garlic cream and frites and really liked it. The sauce was nice, there were only a couple of pieces with sand, and it was a huge portion. The cafe is definitely a tourist trap but one of the better tourist traps because the food is actually okay. Only thing that’s sketch is that they don’t accept credit cards, so just keep that in mind.More
