Fine dining in the heart of Grand Place. Excellent meat and fish dishes. Lacking in vegetarian options. Approx €100/head including wine. Stunning exterior and interior building. Restaurants in the heart of tourist areas often lack quality and are disproportionately expensive. This appeared an exception.

The restaurant has a magnificent view on the Grand Place. The service was a tad slow but the food was delicious and nicely presented. It's quite pricey but worth it for the right occasion.

I ate here with a group of colleagues recently. The food was fine and absolutely nothing to write home about. I am not sure any of it was particularly memorable, which is a shame because this is a stunning restaurant and it deserves to be a much more rounded experience gastronomically. Even the toilets were a let down as they... More

I am very impressed with this restaurant. We asked for wine which was not in the menu and the waiter went out of his way to accommodate our requirement! I have the fillet of beef which was amazing. Perfectly cooked and well presented. The staff were very friendly and did their best to ensure we enjoyed our experience. This was... More

This place is beautiful! The restaurant was only 100m from our hotel and was so inviting in terms of its aesthetic appeal. The starter was excellent, beef carpaccio. The main was even better! We both had fillet of beef, and 10/10 would be an understatement. Finally the dessert was amazing, crepe with strawberries and chocolate sauce, a true Belgian delight!... More

Considering that this is one of the Brussels classic restaurants situated on Grand Place in the middle of the tourist district I would expect more. They deliver good but quite unimaginative food. They tried with artichokes and filet americain (raw minced beef). It tasted really nice but looked less than interesting. The main was another Brussels classic - Lamb rack... More

La maison du Cygne has a fantastic location, bang in the middle of Grand Place. The views from the balcony are stunning, if you are in the function room on the second floor. The decor is very traditional and has a certain charm but as a restaurant it leaves something to be desired. The quality of the food is very... More

As I mentioned in my review of the Amigo; Belgium, and Brussels are wonderful places. Walking around the Grand Place I discovered Cygne. Belgium food is a little different than French. I continue to debate with myself whether I prefer steak and frites from Belgium or France. Typically, one has beer in Belgium and wine in France. Right now I... More

La maison du cygne is a very well known restaurant, even my father took customers there. A beautiful setting, on the grand place. So I invited bussines friends, we were eight. The champagne was good, but then.... As you can read my mind, or the chef wasn't there or it was payback time. Most of us had a entrée which... More

Description
- - We inform you that your restaurant La Maison du Cygne will be closed for an indefinite period. All the team of La Maison du Cygne thanks you for your trust and hope to welcome you very soon again ! - - La Maison du Cygne restaurant in Brussels: grand dining on the Grand Place. When you enter this exquisite 17th century mansion in the heart of Brussels' most famous square, you enter a world of refinement and harmony. The building was once the home of the Butchers Guild and where captains of industry and high-flyers now dine, Karl Marx once drafted his manifesto. That's the sort of surreal fact Belgians delight in. The décor is grande dame traditional, with velvet banquettes, ornate paneling and woodwork, fine art paintings, white napery, fine china and crystal, and lovely views over the square. The carte is haute traditional with innovative nuances, under the creative touch of award-winning chef Donald Loriaux. Dishes include starter of waterzooi de homard, a local soup speciality, main course of tournedos with green peppercorns. The monumental wine cellar sets the standard.
