After a couple of decades visiting Brussels, it si clear to me that this meal tops all. Creative, not heavy at all, perfect service and a knowledgeable Somm with a small, but well-curated and reasonable wine list. Beautiful and modern.

La Canne en Ville left me with mixed feelings after my recent visit. Despite its one-star Michelin rating and reputation for being a high-end establishment, I found the overall experience to be below my expectations. Let's start with the cost—the menu prices were undeniably high....While I appreciate the value of a premium dining experience, the prices at La Canne en Ville seemed to exceed what could be justified by the culinary offerings. Moving on to the food, it was a bit underwhelming. The dishes lacked the wow factor I would associate with a Michelin-starred restaurant. Two out of the four services were good, while the others were only ok, and unfortunately, the experience started and finished with a sense of disappointment. The flavors were decent, but I expected more complexity and innovation, especially given the reputation of the establishment. I do want to commend the chef for the scallop; it was truly excellent. Service, unfortunately, was another area of disappointment. The overall service lacked the attentiveness and warmth one would anticipate in a high-end dining setting. As an alternative dessert for lactose intolerant individuals, pieces of fruit were served. Based on our experiences in other high-standing restaurants, we expected a more substantial dessert. In essence, La Canne en Ville may have some redeeming qualities, but considering the price point and the expectations set by its Michelin star, I left feeling somewhat unsatisfied. It might be worth exploring other dining options in the area for a more balanced and enjoyable experience.More

Sorry but this was very disappointing. Michelin star restaurants are all about harmony and rhythm and that completely failed here. After having received just 5 plates in over 4 hours, we grew tired of waiting and skipped dessert. I have been to many star restaurants...and I have never had to wait so incredibly long. Of course these dinners shouldn’t be rushed but waiting an hour after each meal is simply unacceptable. Rather than savoring the moment, you are left wondering how long the next course is going to take. There was a severe shortage of waiters (unheard off at Michelin star restaurants!) and drinks weren’t timed well either. A real pity because the food was very good - when it eventually came…More

The food is good, it's just that it takes forever... 7:15 pm reservation and at 11:00pm you will still be waiting for courses. For 7 courses that's just under a course every 30 minutes. Completely unacceptable.. You'll have restaurants that have twice as many courses...that don't push 3 hours. Service is acceptable, but do not go unless you take smoke breaks or want to take napsMore

Business menu seems like good choice for lunch. Amuse bouche was nice and tasty, first course as well, salmon with vegetable canolo. I have issue with second course, which was beef; colour was perfect and taste of meat, but at places was with much fat...and cut at strips. Who ever was cutting meat before preparation do not know how to cut beef muscle. We were struggling to cut prepared meat in bites because of that. 2 glasses of champagne for 40€ on bottle which you can order on line for 43€ it is bit of the stretch.More

Very decent food and venue. Impressive deserts. Short, very conservative, and overpriced wine list. Very knowledgeable and friendly sommeliers. Terrible waiters. I go to Michelin restaurants at least once per week and I have never seen this. They treated us like children. They were threatening...and unprofessional. An absolute shame.More

This restaurant boasts a Michelin star. The only choice is a tasting menu. Fine. I am a foodie. Love good tasting menus. They have vegetarian options also great. However the reservation was at 730. At 11 still not done. The food was lack lustre. Expense...expected but This was exceptionally expensive given the quality. There was a piece of hard plastic in one of the dishes that my daughter discovered. When brought to their attention- not even an apology. Appalling.More

This upscale gastronomic restaurant delivers the goods, nice decor, attentive staff and competent chef. They are able to accommodate dietary restrictions with flair. In common with many such eateries, they compel you to order a set multi course meal designed more to display the varied...talents of the kitchen rather than to satisfy the desires of the guests. I resent this practice and would much prefer ordering à la carte what I am interested in eating at a particular time. As to wine by the glass, choices are very limited and while my white wine turned out to be a pleasant surprise, the red was a failure.More

The restaurant is now on Avenue Louise! But staff including chef has remained the same. So has the quality. But the pictures here of the interior are not correct anymore. Anyway, we had dinner at the new address and it was superb, food and service....Wine a bit less so, and the non alcoholic juices and so were very disappointing. The food quality though, is really at two star level, every single dish. Too bad the price is at two star level too. Because of the new smart location???More

The old butcher shop atmosphere remains which adds character. The tasting menu was excellent, service professional and overall deserving of its Michelin star. Would highly recommend.

Two friends and I booked a table at La Canne en Ville for our farewell Christmas dinner. I had enjoyed a meal at the restaurant several years earlier, and was excited to introduce my friends to the nice little cosy restaurant. From the outset, the...service was very cold, but we persevered and ordered the 6 course tasting menu with wine pairing. I will say that we enjoyed the food and wine very much, but the experience was completely ruined by the behaviour of the waiter. After 4 of the 6 courses, we decided that we would have to leave after the waiter shushed us. We are three professional men in our thirties, who were shushed by the waiter for being too loud. The first time I assumed I had misheard, but the second time, when another waiter responded by laughing at his colleague as he served us, it was clear we were being chided. When you choose a Michelin-starred restaurant and decide to pay €200 a head for a special occasion, you do not expect to be treated like naughty schoolchildren for enjoying your evening with a little laughter. Perhaps a calm word to the table would be more acceptable, but not this kind of disdainful behaviour towards your customers. We decided to leave, and after a long back-and-forth about the bill, without so much as an apology from the shushing perpetrator, we paid up and left. We all felt very let down by the experience, which left a crater in the bank account and bitter taste in the mouth. I won't be going back.More

History is always right. Famous predictions always have their truth in history. As if I ever knew....... For Michelin star restaurants same is true. There are only two ways for them. Either nothing happens, they continue to shine, boost confidence through their nominations or else...they grow, but only in their menu prizes. The result of the last is that you go, once, and tick the box, knowing you had no luck. La Canne en Ville, located in center of Brussels, disappointed from beginning to end. Be it in winter, the dishes distinguished themselves by the lack of colors, grey and brown was the theme. Description of the dishes very brief, staff a bit unexperienced we felt. But what struck us were the tastes, flat and no variation. It was only at dessert that one could distinguish color and taste with an excellent interpretation of mango cheesecake. Little detail: the chef, usually present at end of dinners, did not appear. We left the place, 4 hours later, paid 140 eur per person in the darkness of the night and no star shining in the sky.More

OMG !!! I hope this was a mistake ! I wasn’t sure if I want to write a review at all or just simply forget all of it ! I knew this place from before and we had great expectations after it received the star...! But we left, not only disappointed, but I was annoyed. We actually got stomach sick on the way back home! Because of this, I can’t be objective and my views are biased. I will not review the plates of food individually . It’s true that the presentation and the interaction with the staff was in line with the newly received honor. The price as well ! But there was something wrong about the food . Or maybe it was the choice and the way different flavors got on the same plate at the same time. I was part of some kind of an experiment! Kind of wrong at this level and price tag. Wine was average to expensive. Dessert was advertised as cheese cake and resembled more to a pana cota and crumble. Not something I want to talk home about. I’m really sorry 😐 this went kind of wrong for some of us. Good luck ! I hope it will get better!More

This place used to have delicious French food. Now it has an over priced tasting menu and mediocre wine. The food was very pretentious and honestly out of the 5 courses, there’s nothing I would like to eat again, thr flavour combinations didn’t work ....I’m so annoyed to have paid so much for something totally unenjoyableMore
