Atmosphere is ok. Waiters are professional. But for me food quality and taste makes the review, so: we took a sushi menu (the one with nigiri). the nigiri themselves were ok, not spectacularly fresh but at least with some less banal kinds of fish (though one with surf shell clam had some sand creaks). Everything else was actually bad. Starting... More

This time we had the 'traditional' set menu: small appetizer came before wakamé and nimono. The chicken gyoza were succulent. mains were a perfect salmon teriaky and good soft shell crab. Dessert was a green tea ice cream. We had 0.5l of the portuguese red housewine, which was correct.

This is a small but very good Japanese restaurant. The gyoza was delicious and I had the tempura which also was very good. I would go back anytime.

We have been to this restaurant several times the past few months and everytime it is a delight to dine and be served. Not cheap but worth every penny, you see the chef preparing your dish behind the counter, the service is discreet yet very friendly and efficient. This is a must-visit for every japanese foodlover.

Authentic Japanese food and top notch too! Came her one evening and had the vegetarian set menu - five courses including gyoza and tempura and matcha ice cream. based on my visits to japan, the food was very authentic and really well presented. Tasted fab too! It wasn't cheap but well worth it for a treat if you like japanese... More

I love sushi, this restaurant met and exceed my expectations. So if you are keen on Japanese food then it won't be disappointed for you. Apart of food, place is quite to chat and good service. What are you asking more for a good dinner?

Very good food, really authentic, freshly prepared. Far more choice than 'only' sushi. Do try the typical Japanese menu with as main dish Duck or Crab or other dishes instead of the (also excellent) Sushi and Sashimi, you will not be disappointed. Prices are very reasonable - 29 to 39 euro (depending on the choice of main dish) for the... More

I have been to Amatsu about 4 times over the last few years, and I have to say that is consistently the best Sushi restaurant in Ghent, and one of the better restaurants overall. That is saying something, since there are some excellent restaurants in Ghent. This last time I ordered the sushi dinner with a saki pairing. Every course... More

situated in the city centre, this tendy decorated japanese restaurant offers the better food. Sushi prepared before your eyes. The warm dishes are tasteful and the portions big. We went for the reasonably priced japanese menu, which offers edamame and three appetizers, gyoza, a fresh salad, a warm dish (meat, fish or shellfish) and a desert. When looking for japanese...
