This restaurant was recommended to us by a local, but was closed the night we tried to visit. However, a phone call the next day (our last in Gent) indicated that it was open for lunch, so we managed a very quick lunch before heading for Brussels. The day was very wet and cold, but the heaters made the outdoor... More

Wow, so after spending a good hour or so trying to work out where to eat we picked here.....we could have stopped at any of the restaurants along that stretch of the canal but the De Graslei just stuck out. We sat downstairs inside as it was so busy outside we had little choice. The decor was moder but clean... More

I was here for lunch this past weekend. The place is very modern with an Al Fresco area looking the canal. I tend to eat away from the touristy places, but the lunch deal was great. I had a tomato minestrone with the rabbit plate of the day. Service was attentive. Free wifi for the guests. The power did go... More

Went there couple of times. Every time was good, but you can feel that it's a place for tourists. They serve typical Gent/Belgian food (stews, shells, etc.). Staff is friendly and efficient, but mostly to serve you quickly, charge, and see you out. In short: Food 7/10 Staff and service 8/10 Location 10/10

Brought a visit on a cold but sunny sunday. The inside of the restaurant was complete and we had to take place on the outdoor setaing. It was heatened so that it was acceptable to take the lunch outside. We chose the lunch menu. Its was not expensive but the meal was good without beïng remarkable. The fish was to... More

Location - 10/10: fabulous view, you can often eat outside on the heatened terrace. Food - 8/10: nice food, not the most innovative but tasty Service - 8/10: friendly staff, helpful Prices – lunch for... More

Went here on New Years Eve. Nice restaurant with friendly staff and menu choices in 3 languages. We had a 7 month old baby with us and 6 year old child and were given a high chair. Food was great and excellent value for money with both an adult and children's menu with plenty of choice on both. There are... More

The restaurant has a good selection of food and the portions are not small, so be warned. We chose to share some bar bites instead of having starters. The Bitterballen (a traditional small round croquette filled with beef) were great and some of the best we have tasted. It is not the cheapest but offers good value for money in... More

We had family visiting for new year and we booked a table at this restaurant. We were delighted with our choice! The lunchtime menu was great value at 13 Euros for two courses and all food ordered, excellent. Although in the ladies' toilet, De Graslei - unusually for Belgium- have changing facilities and provided a high chair. When we requested... More

We were recommended to come here by the receptionist at the Marriott as a casual place to eat out with our 1 yr old; we had a table inside, upstairs and it didn't seem very casual. Also the tables were so close together that it felt like you were sat on top of each other. The food itself was nice... More
