The full name of this place is in fact De Rechtvaardige Rechters - The Righteous Judges, which refers to the lower left panel of the Van Eyck altarpiece which was stolen in 1934 and never recovered. Efficient place for coffee (with a nice biscuit), but blandly modern and characterless - unlike the exterior of the building. This unfortunately tends to... More

Located right in the city center next to the Cathedral and the Belfry. Very cozy place. Food was from excellent quality and the service provided was very good. We had the steak tartare and it was prepared just perfect!

Where to eat in a touristic city does often needs some investigation, before the city trip starts, as it can be a hit and miss. After some searches I reserved this restaurant online, and was very happy I did. It is in the centre, easy short walk from our hotel, Novotel. Very friendly welcome and our table was ready. My... Finding ourselves without a reservation in the evening, we were worried when the only place we could find near the B&B was De Rechters; usually, restaurants in the main touristy squares and attractions tend to be expensive and disappointing. Instead we had a really nice meal - the stew and the cheese croquettes in particular were delicious. The waiter was... More

I went to this place for dinner one night when I found Bridge closed. The food was great and the portions were huge. The staff was also extremely nice and accommodating. From it's location, you think it would be a tourist trap, but there seemed to be more locals than tourists.

At a beautiful square, is a beautiful restaurant. The food is typical of the Low Countries, and very tasty! Staff is very friendly and professional, and its not expensive either. Perfect for an evening with friends or loved ones.

We went to de "rechters" on a Saturday night at 9pm ( fully booked before that). The place is down by Sint bafskathedraal, a beautiful restaurant with few choices but the we say that " the less choices there are, the better it is". The boss is absolutely charming and effective. The wine was delicious and so was the meal.... More

Top location at the foot of the glorious St Baafs cathedral, and on one of the most beautiful squares in Ghent. Very friendly service, the waitress apologized several times for a small error she made during ordering. Menu not offering that many options, but all 4 of us enjoyed the different choices we made. I can recommend particularly the chicken... More

Excellent food for a good price, very friendly staff. Traditional Belgian food, try the "varkenswangetjes".
