Got in on a busy Saturday evening - it was busy but service was excellent. Menu in Dutch but waitress very helpful in explaining dishes. I decided to have garlic prawns as a starter - just right. Then sole fillets with salad and an absolutely huge portion of frites ( more than enough for 2 and delicious!). Good selection of... More

Visited for dinner. Sat in the window and enjoyed the view of the square. Service is good and friendly. Lots of freshly cooked traditional Belgian food on offer which tasted delicious

Found this place by accident in a quieter square in the fantastic city of Gent. Staff were very welcoming...menu had and English section. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. Lunch at €14.90 ( 2 courses) was great. Wine was good and not expensive as was the beer. Really recommend this place

Me and my wife ate here on our last day in Ghent and wish we had found the place sooner. The service was great, there was a decent sized menu with plenty of options and the food was really good value for the portions you receive. I opted for the Chicken Vol au Vent off the lunchtime menu which cost... More

We found this place when trying to find somewhere to eat during the Gentse Feesten weekend. What a find. Staff very helpful and food was very good. As there were 6 of us we struggled to find anywhere, but the staff sorted us a table inside. Food, Service and atmosphere were great.

5 of us stumbled in here in need of sustenance after travelling. It didn't look that promising , slightly austere decor. But service was friendly and efficient and the food anb Belgian beers excellent,

Had the set menu with soup and steak. Cheap and cheerful and the host was very friendly and chatted to us for a while about our favourite beers. Steak was decent enough and the soup was very nice. Not 5☆ dinner quality but great for a quick lunch.

Very good value and just in the square - V market. menu is up on wall - they would do better to have a board on the street. However, the food is all freshley cooked - the ribs were to die for - if the menu says 'a volonte', it is the equivalent to eat as much as you like.... More

Would not recommend this place when you compare to others in the area. We walked and it was empty - we now realise why. The service was awful, slow and unfriendly. The selection of food was poor, especially for vegetarians and they were reluctant to change the dish to suit my gluten-free needs. My dinner of choice was the shrimp... More

Such a shame this kind of bad food experience happened in the lovely city that Ghent is... Brasserie De Jacob has a bad service, worse food and the worst wine ever. To start with the wine, it tasted like acid. When asked where this wine was from, they could not answer even though the chef was a wine conoisseur, how... More
