It has been a couple of years since we ate here . I had forgotten the name of the restaurant but not the delicious food or friendly people . It was by chance wandering down a back lane way the we happened upon this gem . The food was fresh an so tasty, the wine (French ) just suited the... More

We were wandering through the back streets of Ghent last month. It was the occasion of our fifteenth wedding anniversary. It was just after 9pm and unknown to us 'T Klaverblad had closed (It is so popular and busy during the day). Nevertheless, the hostess, a wonderful woman called Sandy, said she would ask her husband, the chef, if they... More

In a discreet cobbled side street near the canal sits this small gem of a restaurant established for 26 years. A 29 Euro excellent value set menu for dinner means that even with a bottle of wine you will still get change out of 100 Euros for two and dine very well. The roasted cod with a lobster sauce was... The Gent Tourist Information Office (Informatie Toerisme) has a very helpful leaflet listing restaurants & cafes/bars recommended by local people (Gentenaars) themselves. It was this that pointed us at the historic Patershol district immediately north of Kraanlei - & 't Klaverblad (The Cloverleaf) was certainly a lucky choice for us. Despite it being a Friday night - eating-out day -... More

Next day I was told by another restaurant that it was law in Belgium that if someone asks for tap water they are obliged to give... More

We tracked this little restaurant down in the backstreets on our last evening in Ghent, & it did not disappoint. It's classic French style cuisine (lots of creamy sauces & unusual taste combinations), with French wine.... but as is often the case, the set menu is in Flemish, requiring translation. It even featured kangaroo... The waiter was very attentive, and... More

My wife and I have just returned from a three night stay in Ghent. We dined on Saturday night. We hadn't booked but the owner managed to fit us in. The food, the service and the restaurant itself were exceptional. I would recommend to anyone visiting Ghent.

We were already several times in 't Klaverblad with a group of colleagues and we're always welcomed very warm and friendly. The hostess has an eye for every detail and the service is very smooth. The food is excellent, classic but with nice combinations and very tastefull. The portions are certainly big enough. If you love whiskey, you should certainly... More

We were in Ghent for an anniversary and saw this restaurant was highly thought of so we booked. What a welcome! We were offered a lovely table and the menu came only in Flemish but it was explained in detail and the staff could not have been more attentive. We chose the €49 all inclusive option and had an aperitif,... More
