This is a delightful sanctuary, serving as a welcome break during our tour of Bruges. The fire was very enticing on a cold January day and we helped ourselves to afternoon tea. The atmosphere was very calm with very efficient & friendly service. This venue only accepts cash payments, but these can be in € £ or $.

the place is really nice and cozy. the fireplace makes a nice atmophere. When we arrived all the table were full. Luckily we've decided to wait! in 10 minutes a table got free. we were really cold so we took a hot chocolate and a warm tea. we didn't know that the drinks would be served with also some chocolate... My husband & I got cupcakes from here every day of our 4 day stay and some more to take home, they were that delicious! My Husband tried various flavours & really liked the raspberry, whereas I had the chocolate ones every day as they were so good. The staff were also really friendly and helpful in boxing up all... We went for coffees and their famous hot chocolate. In reality the same as what is being served at any number of establishments in Bruges. The cafe was busy and the staff had absolutely no interest in providing information or a congenial service. The chocolates which were served with the coffee were okay but I couldn't excuse them serving a... More

Visited Belgium with friends who had been to this cafe before & loved it. It was very busy & the four of us were not able to sit together but it was worth it. The coffee was very good served with extra whipped cream & a little plate of chocolates. (Samples of the ones they sell at their shop across... More

We went to this place with high expectations based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews on tripadvisor. In reality, the tea room served medium quality patisserie and drinks (possibly slightly worse than what you would get in central London) except the price reflected something far more exciting. Also, this place was cash only. I would not recommend this to anyone except... More

We had read good reviews about this place and wanted to try it out, but we were greeted by a very rude member of staff who told us that they couldn't reserve a table for us, and that the only table not currently occupied had been reserved... The irony. It might have been because we had a baby with us,... More

Tea-room "De Proeverie" is an extension of the famous chocolate shop "chocolaterie Sukerbuyc" located opposite, on the same street. It serves cakes and chocolate fantasies and waffles, all made on the premises by family recipes. No pancakes or ice, instead you can savor a whole range of exquisite cakes while enjoying a coffee break by light baroque music.
