Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It was ok, nothing to shout about. Only a few GF options so very limited choice. I had the black pork and chips- pork very greasy with what looked like Chip shop chips with a salad. Big portion of meat and chips, very filling but...also very basic. For breakfast, GF bread was available but very dry and a GF muffin was available. Quite a basic breakfastMore

Regional cuisine served in a traditional environment. Very clean. Really happy we found this place, Açorda was very good & strips of black pork with asparagus migas was delicious. Service was friendly & attentive.

The food was very good, we had a place without previously booking on the first day of the year. The space is nice and the service was good.

Lovely location and equally lovely staff who were friendly and attentive throughout. The food however needs attention. Probably the best dish was the pork loin, which was succulent and tasty. The lamb chops however were less appetising. Hardly any meat, very thinly cut and over...priced. At least the wine was good. ‘Average’ may be harsh, but certainly not ‘very good’.More

It's difficult to go one way or another on an average restaurant - it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. I think the one thing that I can say, is that when you go to a unique town, such as Marvao, you're hoping for a...unique dining experience - and this restaurant was not it. Okay location, okay food, okay service, okay prices, nothing above average.More

hotel restaurant at the fascinating small city of marvao. we had lunch at their summer terrace, facing the city walls and the typical houses on the hill. the dogfish stew with coriander and other herbs was good. the pork alentejo style (with clams) was very...good. the portions were very big, so the waiter suggested us to ask for a main course per person only, and it was enough. service was polite and price was fair.More

Best Portuguese food in Marvão. The tomato soup is extraordinary, the tomato and cheese salad delicious, and my husband ordered the codfish and he said it was the best he had ever eaten. We recommend this restaurant!

We didn't even make it past the entrance. As we got closer to check the menu, which was by the entrance, a man, who looked like he could be the owner, yelled: what do you want from here? We simply turned our backs and went...to eat some place else, where we received excellent service.More

We made a reservation for dinner and were quite happy with our experience. The Portuguese gazpacho was excellent and a new taste sensation for us (with vinegar). The monk fish for two was a lovely choice for our dinner.

Stayed here at the start of a cycling trip around Alentejo and found it to be a very nice little hotel. The restaurant is reasonably priced, the breakfast is extensive and the rooms are small but comfortable.

We ordered the pork and hake between us. The pork was pleasant enough, but the hake very disappointing: frozen shrimp in bland sauce over tasteless potatoes. They also charged us for two 'paos' (breads), even though we only received one, stating that the price quoted...was in fact 'per person' and not 'per pao' as stated on the menu. At best, lost in translation. At worst, a sneaky way to drive up the bill. Service was also poor, with our waiter sighing loudly at the entrance of all new tables (clearly hoping for an early night) and attending to us quite rudely. We only had one night in Marvao and unfortunately stumbled across the wrong restaurant (the low point of our stay). I imagine any other would have been better.More
