Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Really liked the small plates concept - and the food did look good - but the music was too loud to allow easy conversation (even at 7pm on a Monday evening), so I'm afraid we left without ordering. Sorry but it just didn't seem to...be like the write up in the Rough Guide.More

Great food, atmosphere, and team. We enjoyed every moment. It’s been a few month from our visit, but I still remember how delicious was that tartar. Thank you!

I ordered a glass of rosé and Seabream, they were both very bitter. I have been to Portugal many times and I know it wasn’t just a different taste. I talked to a member of the staff, he was extremely arrogant, he said everyone was...satisfied and I was the only one who complained. He raised his voice, shouted at me and accused me of making a scene. I also felt that cause I was a solo traveller/ customer and I didn’t order a lot, so I wasn’t taken very seriously. As the staff were much more friendly to the customers who came as a couple or a group. Definitely avoid!!!!!More

This food is unbelievably good. We came during a week they were doing a pop up menu with a whole new range of inventive dishes. Every one of them was incredible. Some of the best food I’ve ever eaten. It’s authentically Portuguese but it’s hard...to even explain the dishes. Each one had such flavour and balance. The sort of food you would find at one of the best restaurants anywhere in the world. We ordered four dishes between two but then got another one just to try it and two desserts!! Yes there is one stony faced waitress - I guess she doesn’t like tourists. Who cares. Go with it. We sat near the kitchen inside because she wouldn’t seat us at any of the empty outdoor tables (saving them for locals) and it was great because we chatted to the chef between dishes. Had a great wine too. Do not miss this place. We were going to go back the next night but decided to leave it in our memories as that one perfect meal.More

A recommendation from our Airbnb hosts - tucked away on a side street. Authentic and interesting Portuguese Tapas. Food fine but the service unfriendly……you book a table at 6.30pm for 7pm (and given a card to ring if you are going to be late). Arrive...spot on time to be told to go away as they were not ready to open - despite tables being set outside! We did return as the food reviews were so good. Disappointing since we’ve found the locals so friendly and helpful - tainted the experience. :(More

Absolutely delicious food and a really relaxed atmosphere. Recommended in a book, hence how we found it, tucked away in a quiet lane. It was the best food we had tasted in Portugal. So glad we found it.

After looking at the ratings we were expecting good food, but we were disappointed. The fish soup, scrambled eggs and veal in wine sauce were below par, but eatable. The shrimps with coconut sauce, chestnut croquets and Pumpkin with cheese were actually bad. We could...not even finish the shrimps…More

Just stopped here for lunch as our free walking tours recommended it. So glad we did. It's off the beaten track, so didn't feel touristy, and is done out in a traditional family feel. We sat outside in the sun and enjoyed 3 small plates...between the two of us and a desert each. All really tasty and not expensive. Highly recommend if you want to get away from the touristy restaurants.More

It's been years since my last visit and much has changed: the dining area is twice the size and there are 4or 5 co-workers now instead of 2. The quality of the food and the cooking, the friendly service and the variety on the menu...remains the same though, and you can still see how busy yet unflustered they are in the kitchen area. The quirkiness of the 1950s ambience is still there, and makes such a pleasant change from the rest of Faro where the striving for absolute modernity has created much ugliness; it was slightly dampened only by a low-fi sound system with a boomy bass at times playing some very unrelaxing music. This late in the year, the tourist-facing workforce in Portugal has had enough really, but at A Venda they didn't show it and were as charming and genuine as ever. Two of the 'small plates' of food were still enough for me, with complimentary couvert and wine - best is to be in a group where you can share a greater number of dishes though, as it's hard to choose from so many mouth-watering options, which include meat, fish, veggie and vegan possibilities! NOTE: they don't take cards, cash only!More

Restaurant of poor quality, food not tasty, small plates almost empty. Clearly not enough to eat even if you take 2 or 3 tapas per person. We left the place still hungry paying a bill more expensive than in other places. Staff not smiley.

No table when we arrived but the waitress kindly booked us one in 30 minutes. The waiter came to take our order and gleefully announced that this was a ‘concept restaurant’ that served tapas-type dishes but were not finger food. The orzo salad was delicious,...well made and tasty. Then came the octopus. Slightly over cooked in a sloppy brown bean stew with too much sauce. Then came a chickpea and cod dish which was covered in a rather awful creamy sauce. No taste or structure. The waitress had a look of disbelief when we said we didn’t like it. The fourth dish was so unremarkable, I can’t even remember what it was. All the plates were chipped, the waitress looked at me as if I wasn’t quite cool enough to be eating off a chipped plate. The decor was a lot of very bad artwork which was crammed on the wall, irrelevant books shoved onto bookshelves, presumably to add to the false ‘quirky’ look of the place. I felt sad for the staff having to serve very mediocre food. They didn’t look very happy and weren’t interacting with customers or with their colleagues. Poor food, poor service, pretentious decor. Very overrated place. As for the ‘concept’…. we still haven’t quite worked out what it was. If the chefs and the waiting staff work it out, they really need to change it.More

Down a quite street and away from the tourist area. The most unique experience and some of the best food we have had during our visit to Spain and Portugal. Small plates concept with each plate prepared with incredible flavors. Passionate chef really cares about...your experience. We shared 5 dishes which was the perfect amount for two people. House wines complimented the meal.More

I would say 24 to 26 seats available, althought they would have to be in 2 or 3 tables, with a small separation between them. Best regards!
