The restaurant is large with plenty of seating. On arrival, there were two other couples in the whole of the restaurant, along with the 3 staff members also seated eating their dinner, which is not a great look. Surely the staff could eat before they...start work or eat in the back somewhere.
We both ordered off set menu. Starters were good. Mains were a bit of a disaster. I ordered steak on stone, other half ordered the steak medium cooked.
Both my steak on the stone and her steak came out at the same time, even though I needed to cook mine for around 5/6 minutes so it was medium- well. So it meant my gf was going to be finished her mains by the time mine was cooked and my chips would also be cold by the time my steak was cooked. I was baffled by this. Surely they would have asked how was I going to eat my steak on the stone and maybe brought it out first and a few minutes later brought out my gfs steak and the chips I ordered. Mad carry-on. I then asked for salt and they brought over a pepper mill which is fine but then small sachets of salt - how tacky & amateur.
My gfs steak which she asked for medium was cooked medium on outside but was rare inside. As the steak came out covered in sauce, Im not sure how they would have recooked it with all the sauce on it, they probably would have needed to use a fresh piece of meat. Following this disaster of a mains, we both wanted to leave, so we said No to the desserts even though they were included in the set menu we had ordered off and would be paying for. However, they still brought out desserts, not sure why they didn't listen. They were an assortment of 3 small desserts, ice cream option was good, didnt bother with one of the 3 options & cant remember what the second option was.
The restaurant remained fairly empty with maybe a max of 6 people at any one time in there.
For such a nice, large restaurant it is a pity to see it so empty but based on my experience I can understand why. I would not be returning or recommending.More
