This is a terrific restaurant with excellent food and service. By Portuguese standards, it is quite expensive, but by US standards a good deal. Worth the splurge and very close to the Pousada.

We had the seafood shishkebab with lightly cooked monkfish, scallops and shrimp, great but somewhat expensive, and the tournedos Marsala, perfectly pink inside. Service attentive and pleasant, somewhat old fashioned environment.

Quality average, prices too high especially fish dishes and expensive for Algarve compared to other restaurants. Found a hair in the dish, but was disputed by the staff! Not recommended.More

Sorry to hear you were not very happy with your dinner. It is correct that Vila Velha's prices are a little higher then most other restaurant's, and that has everything to do with the quality produce we work with. Fortunately many people understand this and...More

This is a real treat. Proper home cooked food in the owner's home. An experience not to be missed. Not an extensive menu BUT sufficient for the connoisseur or layman alike and all freshly prepared for YOU.

For the first week in November, surprising warm days but chilly evenings so the roaring fire in the restaurant was a warm welcome. Lovely fish soup for me followed by a prawn curry. The fish kebab for my wife and we shared the apricot crepe...More

This is a lovely restaurant run by some delightful ladies (not sure if there are any men in the background, but front of house were all ladies) who looked after my wife and I very well. The decor is very traditional and the log fire...More

Spending some days in Sagres we had booked a table for our group of 8 to enjoy dinner at this charming and cozy restaurant. While still in California we arranged together with Chef /owner Lia a fixed menu with different choices. Our expectations were not...More

Rice with Portuguese Rice sounds simple or boring. I don't know if it is simple to make but I do know it's not boring. It is absolutely delicious ! So is the Monkfish as is the Rabbit. Not a bad item on the menu.

Having been disappointed by a highly rated local restaurant last night we were concerned about the quality of Sagres fare.......we needn't have worried. When we arrived this evening at Vila Velha without a booking the staff were very helpful and were friendly throughout. The food...More
