We had booked a table, as this place gets very busy. We sat inside p, as there was air conditioning. The waiter was like a someone on speed, rushing around, we found it difficult to pin him down, even though our friends spoke Portuguese. I...had a cutlet of very dry fish, service with boil potatoes and vers les, very disappointing. Our friends had shrimp and barnacles which they loved. The noise level was just too loud and not a cosy place where you would linger.More

Ruis is a legend - even referenced in my Portuguese language course! We first came here about 16 years ago when our boys were little. Silves is changing. Gentrification along the river front. Even the Pont Romana restaurant has transformed from being almost derelict to...completely refurbished, and the market is now smart and doesn’t smell of fish. Part of me regrets this. Ruis hasn’t changed which is a great thing. Still very authentically Portuguese. The selection of seafood and shellfish will blow your mind. Be adventurous although TBH I go for traditional grilled Stone Bass (or today Grouper). Served traditional Portuguese style with boiled potatoes and tomato salad. But the choice is huge. The emphasis is simply on the simplicity and quality of the fish. We have eaten at Steins and Scott’s and we love both, but I would choose Ruis any day. I would advise differently to other reviewers - sit inside, not outside. As a waiter told us 16 years ago - Tourists sit outside, Portuguese sit inside. I am not pretending to not be a tourist, but sitting inside you get the full sense of authenticity as it is always packed with Portuguese and you get the full sense of the hustle and bustle. Oh and very child friendly.More

We visited for lunch with our 2 daughters aged 15 and 10. The fresh fish and seafood is beautifully cooked, tender and seasoned to perfection. We sat outside and enjoyed people watching, it's in a perfect location in the town. Our girls really enjoyed the...authenticity of the menu and food.More

The food is 10/10, and you should pay a visit if you love fish, the best in town. But...tip for the waiters: be nice to your customers.

Fantastic is all respects! 8 different options of shrimp says it all. Great fresh seafood. Waiter straight out of a scene from the Godfather is cherry on top!

We had a really enjoyable lunch here. Restaurant was very popular with Portuguese people. Our lunch consisted of bread/ grilled salmon/sea bream/salad/vegetable selection/ 2 glasses of wine/small beer/ 2 coffees €36.30. Really good food. My only comment is that your plates are cold having sat...on the table prior to your arrival, and the alloy serving dishes on which the hot food arrives are also cold. I would have preferred them to be warned to help food retain its heat. Despite this I would highly recommend this restaurant especially if you like shell fish, lobster and crabs.More

We really loved this restaurant! The service was very friendly and professional. And they have the best sea food! There is a lot of choice in fresh fish on the menu, and it’s really tasteful. We highly recommend this place.

We had a lovely evening there, we shared a seafood cocktail started, tasty but the mains really were gorgeous. I had sole my wife the sea bass, both accompanied by potatoes and veg, the fish was so good and the service really professional yet friendly....Go there if you like fish, that’s my advice.More
