boat and yacht club banners from maritime adventurers all over the world and all over this pub; scrimshaw on display; flags; banners; joyous celebration of the ocean -- an authenticity permeates this joint. and the parrotfish was excellent! it was a delightful adventure just being...there and soaking up the ocean-going atmosphere!More

It's isn't normal that the same restaurant has two different waiting lists, one for outside and another for inside tables that doesn't communicate with each other. We were the next in line and saw 5 groups be seated before us. When we asked why weren't...we called they told that we were on the waiting list for the inside, not the outside. This was the first time they mentioned the different waiting lists. They didn't gave us the option of outside or inside, just asked for the name, said to wait, and didn't care anymore. We just took off and went to a different restaurant.More

No visit to Horta is complete without a Visit to Peter's. It has bags of character and is always fairy busy.

This is one of those iconic, unique places that make the world a better place and make travel so much fun. I consider it an honor to have visited this establishment and consider it one of the highlights of my visit to the Azores. Do...not be swayed by any negative review, this place is exactly what it says it is - a historic sailors pub! Anyone expecting fine dining should visit Paris. Anyone expecting smiling service should stay home and eat at an Applebees. Peter’s Cafe Sport should be enjoyed exactly the way it is, no different than any other cultural treasure. And if it wasn’t perfect enough, there is the most outstanding collection of scrimshaw I have ever seen just upstairs through that unassuming little wooden door. I can’t wait until I get to visit again.More

It's true, if you are in Horta. Go there. The food is amazing. The team is really friendly and prices are so cheap. You will love this place. Eat the Limpets you won't find them so good and cheap. And you have to drink the...gin and buy a bottle of the gin.More

I was counting on a over-standartized restaurant for tourists, and I had a good surprise. Good and traditional food, good service, fast kitchen and good wine list. Everything with quite decent prices. The only desapointing point was the gin, served in a beer glass and...quite trivial. All in all it is one of the best choices in Faial.More

We visited Peter’s Cafe Sport in early March as it seemed to be pretty popular in Horta. This was our first night in the Azores and we wanted to try some fresh fish. They had several fish dishes on the menu, and after trying to...understand what these were and how they were prepared, we ordered four different fish dishes, including cod and some breaded ones. The net of it was that all 4 were almost un-edible. It was as if the chef took four fish, used a cleaver to chop them into portions, then selected the portions with the most amount of bones and least amount of meat, and served these. We literally had to pock through each serving trying to find a morsel of fish to eat, with little success. We did enjoy several gin-based cocktails which were good. So go for the drinks and atmosphere, eat somewhere else.More

Being offseason, we were able to get a table without reservation. Food got served fast and it was sumptuous. Gin and tonic was just normal – worth the visit if keen on knowing more on the services Peter’s provided for cross Atlantic travellers.
