Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We went yesterday, and we were seated immediately. I guess October doesn’t present the problems of June to August. The owner is super friendly and it is very interesting to talk to him about his twice circumnavigation solo. The food was good, I ate the...“chicharrinhos “ which are tiny fish well fried so you can eat everything. No need to remove the tiny bones. Service was kind but a bit inexperienced. House wine not wow but not bad.More

No words can describe the incredible experience we had here today. You are greeted by the owner, Genuíno, who made us feel he was welcoming us to his living room. Our lunch of fresh, local fish was juicy, tasty, just what one expects from a...fish place that selects the best catch each day. The decor is nautical because Genuíno sailed the world solo, building memories that today you get to experience dining here. This is just not a place to eat, but a place to experience. Maybe the best dining experience you will have in all of the Azores. My hat is off to this crew. Well done and thank you.More

Terrible service, Terrible food, vastly overpriced. 75min wait on one course, a steak so salty it was inedible served with oven chips and a very poor salad. Worst meal by a mile in Horta.

The setting is lovely, Views over the old bay with the classical period military defences all around. The restaurant however was from good. The service was adequate but the quality of the food was nothing like we hoped it would be, it was overpriced and...the music was worse than in a supermarket or tall building lift. The prices were way above the average of the Azores islands as a whole and the food was well below average. A London fish&chip shop fares better. It might have been a good restaurant in its day, or maybe we were there on a bad day. Suffice to say, we are not going back.More

Great food really tasty. Loved the fish soups and the limpets. Also tuna was excellent. The service was average. Had to wait a long time to be seated because reservations and payments are both done by the owner and at times this means waiting. Also...part of our order was not prepared and after quite long time the waiter just said the kitchen does not want to make it!!. The food and the view are excellent though. I would go back if ever in Horta again.More

The restaurant is well located, though parking is difficult to find. The drinks and food are quite good and not expensive. However, there is a certain air of pretentiousness in their service, given the origins of the restaurant. Worth a visit, nevertheless.

Definitely not the best tuna fish but "Bicuda" fish was better. A bit expensive for the quality. Nice atmosphere, beautiful views.

Book in advance. Try and get table upstairs. It is in a great location for evening sundown dinner. Good menu and wine list. Interesting sailing story behind the owner…

So I tried this restaurant yesterday, very nice and cozy place But that’s it. it was the first time in Azores not eating well.. the main course arrived 1 minutes after the server the appetizers and the tuna staek we had..was just one block of...solid ice on the inside. Potatoes and side vegetables on the side were not amazing too… service not even friendly so I won’t come back.More

While restaurant gives off a nice vibe and has a wonderful view, the culinary experience was far from what we got used to in the Azores. We ordered a marisco soup which was 4 thick slices of bread humidified by a broth and one marisco....They should have labelled it wet bread with one marisco. We ordered the tuna salad, which was prepackaged supermarket salad with 5 thin mini strips of grilled tuna. Tuna was good, salad was cardboard shredded type. Many better options around.More

The reception was rather dismissive, the waiting time was 30 minutes despite a reservation. After waiting over an hour for the food, we left. Nevertheless, we paid for our drinks, complained to the chef, who checked our information with the staff. We were right, he...said, and then presented the receipt - including the food. Genuino - never again!More

Just go to enjoy the unique stories from Me. Genuíno. He is a brave and incredible person. He did 2 times the world tour on a single boat. He has a small museum at the restaurant. Food is also good.

We were seated at a glass topped table filled with items from Genuino's visit to St Helena and we were next to a book cabinet filled with sailing books. the restaurant had a lovely ambience. For starters we had Hemingway's fish soup and banana fritter...with tuna pate; mains breaded tuna with sweet potato and salad and tuna with ginger and soya and vegetables washed down with an excellent Pico wine. Desserts- yam pudding and Genuino's favourite chocolate cake both were good.More

True Azores experience- overlooking the ocean, excellent fresh seafood, attentive service! Something on the menu for everyone, and it’s open through the afternoon (unlike many other restaurants). It’s worth the treasure hunt to locate! Genuino Madruga himself oversees the operations (he circumnavigated the globe solo).
