The two of us entered the restaurant as first guests, and the owner (?) seated us at a table for four - despite we had asked to be seated elsewhere and plenty of empty tables for two were available. Seating extra random people next to...us, he blew our hope for a nice evening for two. Then, it was not possible to pre-taste wine before buying the whole bottle. Kind of a take-it-or-leave-it experience. Waitress tried hard not to appear unmotivated or careless, yet unsuccessfully. I cannot tell if my tuna steak wasn't out of a can because it was just as cold - the menu did say though it'd come direcly from the grille. At checkout, I suggested the waitress-turned-cashier a tip of xx.xx €, and she even granted herself a higher tip (!) Stay away from that shack if you don't want to ruin your evening.More

My wife and I were hesitant to go to this restaurant after reading some of the reviews. To our pleasant surprise we did not encounter any of the issues others have commented on. We walked in without a reservation on a Sunday night and were...immediately seated. The staff was very pleasant and although our server was not fully knowledgeable with the menu she found another staff person to answer our more difficult questions. The food was excellent. For an appetizer we shared a cheese Ilha Azul which was a very large portion and came with a delicious fig jam. We could not finish the whole thing. I had the fish soup Hemingway style which was the weakest part of the meal mostly due to the fact it had a lot of rice. The taste of the soup though was very good. I also had the shrimp appetizer (fried in butter and garlic) which was excellent. My wife had the shrimp main course (grilled) which she said was very well prepared. There was more shrimp than she could eat. One small complaint, not unique to this restaurant, is that the shrimp main course comes with fries (and salad), and the fries are frozen. I miss homemade fries in Portuguese Restaurants. At the end of the meal I realized I had left my wallet in our hotel and suggested my wife would stay there while I returned to retrieve it. The owner immediately said my wife did not have to stay even though he had never met me before. This is indicative of the friendly atmosphere of the restaurant generally. We were very impressed by his understanding nature even though I eventually found enough cash in my pockets to pay. Yes it is a little more expensive; the same bottle of wine is €8 cheaper at Principe Gastrobar (a fine restaurant) but as the Mastercard commercial says there are some things money can’t buy.More

We visited this fairly popular restaurant in Horta in early March of 2022. We were looking for a better meal than we had earlier in the week at Peter’s Cafe Sport. Good news is that it was very much better. The service was good, the...location is nice overlooking the bay, and the food, either the fish or meat, was good to very good. One notable dish was the tuna balls, which are worth trying. We would recommend this restaurant based on our experience.More

I don’t really know where to start a review of this terrible terrible restaurant. It is so bad that it is almost worth a visit for the comedy value, In brief, the food is terrible. It doesn’t matter what you order, because what the clueless...waitresses actually bring appears to be random or deliberately wrong. Order a vegetable soup? You may well get a fish soup along with desert, along with a gormless grin. And check the bill, as you may be charged for three soups. The only good thing about this restaurant is that the staff are so clueless they you may not be charged for half the stuff you order - although it won’t arrive anyway. But whatever does arrive is overcooked and very disgusting. Avoid at all costs and don’t say I didn’t warn youMore

We don't get the recommendations here.. Food wasn't good! The fish was dry the service was unfriendly. While entering you could already feel that you're not welcome . So..I wouldn't recommend the fish or the place by itself..

Gorgeous view, the best spot on the island, wonderful place and service But, the food is only ok and overpriced., Go for the simple, cheap food and enjoy the view

The treat foreigners poorly, the owner, and staff are rude. The food isn’t fresh and tasted terrible. The only bad meal I’ve had in Portugal in 7 trips. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all cost……

Authentic atmosphere and a good choice for dinner. We expected a bit more variety on the fish dishes. None of the many locally caught bottom fish were on the menu. If you look for something special a different choice might be more better.
