Excellent food, poor service and expensive price.
This is the summary of my experience at the O Bairro de Aveiro restaurant. We have ordered two risottos of black rice with salmon and rice with shrimp and lime and the portions have been very normal and the price is expensive, yes, they were very good and are possibly one of the best risottos that someone can eat in their life. Added to this is the attention given by the waiters (especially one of their waitresses), who treated us in an unfriendly manner and gave us the feeling that they did not understand very well what we were telling them.
The restaurant is worth trying but be careful if you eat a lot, you may get hurt when you see the bill.

O Bairro is a restaurant located in the center of Aveiro that offers a wonderful dining experience. With a focus on fresh produce and innovative recipes, this establishment has become one of our top picks in the city.
Cod is one of the Ace dishes on the menu, noted for its flavor and impeccable preparation. The welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff add a special touch to the experience, making each visit memorable. Although prices may be a little high compared to other restaurants in the area, the quality of the dishes justifies the cost.
Desserts, while delicious, are somewhat expensive.
Or Bairro is ideal for a special dinner or those looking to enjoy authentic Portuguese cuisine with a modern twist. Not recommended for families with children.

The food - amazing, original and very tasty.
The environment - cozy, friendly, but could be more comfortable (mainly the chairs, some are very uncomfortable).
The service... - does not follow the quality of the food, much less does jus to the restaurant.
As soon as we arrived we were welcomed by a gentleman who, with very little sympathy, told us that we would have to wait (I didn't know how long) and that the dishes would take a long time to leave, because it is an author's kitchen. Anyway, very bad reception from you. Firstly, because this is not how you should receive the customers (as if we were doing them a favor) and, secondly, because I had already called the day before to sign up, I already knew I would have to wait a little while, and I was willing to do so.
However, after 15 minutes, our table was ready (i.e., the waiting time was completely reasonable and in no way justified the “warm” reception of the gentleman).
Now the amazing part... the food! The meal started with the couvert, but not one of those traditional couverts of bread with butter we are used to. None of that. The fresh and diverse bread, the original and very tasty patés and still some crispy and stallish algae that surprised us! The main dishes followed. After the initial “warning” from the Lord who received us, we were waiting for a long wait but, surprisingly, not. The dishes arrived as soon as we finished the entries, that is, once again we were unaware of the reason for all that initial “apparatus”. The dishes were all wonderful, well confectioned and with an amazing presentation! Highlight, without a doubt. the confit cod (a kind of barley cod, but raised to another level). The fish and seafood rice and the shrimp and lime risotto were also absolutely delicious. Finally, at desserts, we finished with the cherry on top of the cake. I recommend the thousand chocolate leaves, peanut and salty caramel. Probably one of the best desserts I've ever eaten. It's an explosion of flavors, a delicious surprise! With each spoon we discover a new taste, a new texture, a new element... very, very good! The sky nuts are also amazing, very different from the traditional, and with a presentation that fills the eye!
That is, in the end, the wonderful meal we had ended up “compensating” the initial attitude completely unexplained and unfounded with which we were received. Both the waiting time to sit at the table, and the waiting time for the main dishes were completely acceptable, nothing out of the normal. If we hadn’t started “with the left foot” (and above all without a reason for it), we would not have started the meal already “conditioned” by that attitude, and the whole experience would have been absolutely unbelievable!
Despite this little prequel, we will definitely come back to taste the rest of the delicacies of this restaurant!

Not the restaurant for me. As I'd seen so many good reviews I tried it. First I was seated next to the toilet door. I asked for another table and he told me it was the only one for one person. Yes, people traveling alone often get the worst table- like we don't deserve a view or quiet. I wanted to try the pig and the waiter said many people are unhappy with that dish. Odd coming from a waiter. He encouraged me to try one of their risottos and said the one with veal "chunks" was very good. Not sure why I trusted him but I did. That was my second mistake. (First was accepting the table.) The dish did not have chunks of meat but rather very thin slices of not too tender meat. The risotto was strangely a dente. I wondered if the food cost of the roast pig was the reason he encouraged people to have the risotto. Nothing was terrible about the dish but nothing was superlative. The female and young male waiter were attentive which is what the 3 stars go to.

After we had tried to reserve a table several times by phone, we went there. It was open from 7 p.m., we were the first guests and received a very friendly welcome.
All the dishes were explained to us and we were told that we should expect fusion cuisine here. We were very happy with that.
The starter was very good, scallops with mango, avocado and lime.
The
main courses were also, but the plates were cold and unfortunately the sweet potato puree was too. A complaint about this did not result in a good impression for such an expensive restaurant. The dessert was fabulous, the wine list was very extensive, they only serve bottled wines, the prices are very OK.
Overall a good evening, although very expensive.

I had an absolutely wonderful experience at your restaurant! The ambiance was charming, the service was impeccable the owner took time to explain any dishes in details so we could have the best experience, and the food was simply exquisite. Every dish was a delight, with flavors that were both innovative and comforting. I can't wait to come back and enjoy more of what you have to offer. Keep up the fantastic work!

First evening in Aveiro looking for a place to eat traditional cuisine. Walking through the streets along the canal we were attracted to this restaurant with its welcoming atmosphere. Fusion cuisine, the owner explained to us what we would find on the menu, we opted for a meat dish and the quality was really good. The very kind staff was able to point me to a lactose-free dish and it wasn't difficult to find something that satisfied me, even though most of the risottos (restaurant specialties) contained butter. All very good!

We went for dinner because of the good reviews of the place and the truth is that I recommend it. We ordered a soupy rice with fish and seafood and you have to see how delicious it was. For the children there was a children's menu for 12 euros which was very good for us. We also received very good attention and the place is great for its location and good atmosphere.

O Bairro is an excellent fish restaurant with passionate personnel. They specialize in Portuguese rice dishes and particularly fish dishes. We had scallops with black rice and fisherman's catch with tomato rice and both were delicious. The innkeeper is a central character and has the time to talk to all customers, which creates a nice atmosphere. Booking a table is very difficult and the best way is to go there in person. O Bairro is worth a recommendation.

We came to Aveiro to do what is typical of there is the boat ride, and since it was lunchtime we decided to look for a place. First as we arrive the metre tells us that his dishes are quality dishes, etc etc (what is fashionable now that it is an ok I don’t care what I care about is eating well), and when you ask him if he has fish of the day or any recommendation he releases the same paraphernalia. The abundant quantity, the slightly high price for the quality you are so proud to have. I won't repeat.

Attention and exquisite food.
We are advised by the charming maitre.
We ate a Bao Pan with fish that I could eat over and over again. Main course the brothed rice with fish (corvina) and prawns with an air of seafood heads, very good. Dessert the chocolate and salted caramel, very rich too. All rehogado with a delicious green wine very soft.
We loved the experience and the more than acceptable price, we would definitely return.

A small restaurant right next to the Fish Point of Sale that allowed us to have a great time 😊 impeccable service with a boss who does everything to make your visit enjoyable
The menus are in Portuguese and English but he speaks a little French and guided us in the choice of our dishes
And the dishes... very well presented and tasty
No pressure to finish our meal despite the long queue.... A very popular address
You must arrive early (around noon) or book to be sure you have a terrace table

The restaurant is very interesting as in addition to the tables outside it also has an internal part. The staff and especially the head chef is really very prepared and smart. He speaks at least four languages and was able with precise technical terms to express the dishes available in Italian. It is a restaurant that bases almost all its cuisine on risotto made with the highest quality raw materials and above all with a lot of imagination. In this case we had two risottos with different types of fish. My dish was with fish from the Point of Sale and was therefore formed by a layer of rice with fish and cream on top and also a sour foam that made the whole particularly balanced. The peculiarity of the dish was precisely the balance that all the components inside could give. All this was accompanied by a glass of white wine chosen by the cellar with great care. The dessert then exceeded expectations. It was basically a revised and corrected millefeuille with many other desserts inside including ice creams and even different creams. Again, the plate guaranteed the perfect balance. Restaurant absolutely recommended.

Very overrated. The receptionist is indeed multilingual and pleasant, but his colleagues much less so. Dishes under the guise of “modern” cuisine are absolutely not worth this price either in terms of quality or quantity. Tourist trap.

Specialized in risotto, but what risotti!!! All very original and well served.
The boss takes the time to explain the dishes accurately, a passionate.
We loved it and the fish soup so beautifully presented is a killing.
Here we take the time, the time to explain the cuisine, the time to prepare the dishes and the time to enjoy them.
A nugget off the beaten track.
