This restaurante is located out of the "golden mile" of all the most known restaurants in Mealhada, famous for the "leitão" or rosted pig. It is absolutly delicious, the pig is made on a very traditional way, not a mass restaurante which makes it Unique in quality. A real must for "leitão" lovers. Service is excelent, dishes and deserts are... More

Located away but still near the traditional Leitão city that is Mealhada, Mugasa offers a good alternative to the usual suspects. It may not look like much from the outside but inside, in hood portuguese tradition you will be welcomed like home and served a delicious meal all of this for under 15 euros per head (excluding drinks). Arrive circa... More

Mugasa restaurant is what I call a locals' restaurant. When we went there we were the only foreigners. We drove quite a lot to get to Fogueiras, the small ville where it is, from Guimarães on our way to Coimbra but do that. You won’t regreat. The local pork (leitão à bairrada) is the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly cooked,... More

Went to eat leitão (small pig) but it was not fantastic and it was cold. The meat mix (mista grelhada de carnes) also poor. All in all you may find a lot better restaurants in the region. For leitão look for other place to have a good one. Restaurante abaixo da qualidade média para a zona. Leitão frio e mista... More

Even though the restaurant had been highly recommended, its quality was a surprise. Fantastic "iscas de leitão" and "leitão", with a good sauce and chip potatoes. Good service and good sparkling wines from the region. A fantastic experience for a couple, for less than €50.

We asked for a nice place to eat in the neighborhood when we visited Luis Pato, the famous winemaker in Bairrada. We drived to Fogueira and found this restaurant that looked more like just a café from outside. We would not have found this without the recommendation we got; never. Traditional, very well made roast veal for two (would have... More

Each time I go to Mugasa the roasted pig tastes better! I guess along with age Ricardo's skills(chef) improve! Your customers appreciate! The wines from Bairrada go wonderfully with this meal, specially Espumante(sparkling) from Baga grape! It's worth extra miles to reach there...

The guide at he underground museum suggested this restaurant, and it was indeed very good. On the second floor of a non-descript building is a bustling restaurant with many locals. The specialty (of the house as well as the area) is the suckling roast pig. It is served with fresh chips and salad. Even though I am not usually a... More
