Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Although the place is very attractively located and has a beach and all the central Cascais area located nearby, the vibe and atmosphere is far from what one would expect of a holiday destination. Unwelcoming, rude, not clean, snobby bar manager (middle aged man with...tattoos and in a cap). Respect yourself and avoid this second-storey pit.More

Walked in around 7 pm mid-week. The place was half empty. Stood in front of the bar trying to get some attention before the bar girl stared at me with a “what the ef** do you want” look followed by the verbal “what do you...want” question. Cold shower, obviously not too much care for customers, perhaps because they are in an excellent location and they have business anyway. Other than that was okish.More

You go to Cooleys basically for the band and vibe. The food is your typical bar feed, so ok, not great but enjoyable. It can get somewhat raucous at night so if you don't like loud music and dancing and singing and just having a...ball, don't go.More

Miserable staff, made to feel extremely unwelcome. Laughed when we asked to order food even though the menus were out. So unfriendly.

Very sorry you felt like this . We stop serving food at 8pm and not every day our kitchen is open . And by portugese law menus have to be out all the time as people need to know the price of the drinks .

Proper Irish bar, not a cheesy replica. The manager kindly put the cricket on the TV for me. Was quiet when we were there but seemed like it would have been ideal if you were out with the lads. Would also be great for sporting...occasions. Decent range of drinks including it's own brewed beer/ IPA.More

Biggest mistake of our lives going back to this place! Dirty over priced tourist trap with a very obnoxious manager/owner and the feeling of a dodgy drug dealing den of iniquity about it. Visit at your own peril!!

A lovely time with local friends ruined by being charged to play pool when the sign doesn’t say anything of the sort. The ‘rules’ just mention a €10 deposit which we paid and that we only get an hour if there are others waiting. No...one else was waiting. So when we finished and went to get our deposit back it was a shock to be asked for more money!!! She absolutely made up something about it being €8 an hour when there’s no sign that says that. We bought 3 rounds of drinks whilst we were there so we weren’t just there to play free pool and not give them any business but to not be told in advance is just robbery. They clearly only favour their regulars and try to rip off everyone else which is a shame as we would’ve definitely returned as we’d had fun up to that point but when a business is dishonest and not upfront it just leaves a bitter taste in your mouth. Plenty of other local businesses to go support instead!More

Lovely place and a fantastic band in it the night we were there! We were with a group of family that were in Cascais for a wedding and we went here on the night we arrived and it didn't disappoint! Highly recommended!

Situated on the first floor a short walk from the main beach. Cooleys offers access to all of the Premier League and Champions League football, Live music on most nights and a good range of drinks and food. What more do you need?

We were on a 5 day break to Cascais and found this pub on day 3. It is a well appointed pub and very well laid out. Nice design and very comfortable. We first visited in an afternoon and when it was quiet. The barman/owner...gave us some recommendations for restaurants which proved excellent. We went back later that night and it was very busy. We watched a football match and had a few drinks. After the match, we sat at the bar. I ordered a bottle of beer for my wife with a glass full of ice. The barmaid told me there was no more ice, while she continued to serve others with ice. We noticed that both the other staff had arguments with customers and the final straw was when 2 of the staff had a complete blowout with each other. I've never seen anything like it. We won't be back, which is a shame, as we liked the premises.More

Great to sink some chips, eat a few pints. Or is it the other way around? Nice owner, lovely crowd, typical Brit joint, good Brit pop, great TVs to catch the latest of the Three Lions (whether it's footie, darts, hammerthrow:) Went here to watch...Portugal V Turkey, Qatar playoff semis. Had a blast. Will be back, for sure.More

Went earlier today to see was it appropriate for a group of 14 we wanted to bring out for this evening. Before I could ask could they facilitate us tonight, the barman showed distain for me asking to pay for my beer by a card…this...made me change plans and we ended up in TABERNA, which was amazing . Just such a pity I couldn’t trust this bar to show my colleagues an Irish night outMore

I’m very sorry to hear this but it’s very common to not be able to pay with a Visa card in the area for a amount under 5€ as the charges are high on foreign cards . So sorry for the inconvenience

I’ll be honest, it’s rare to find a place where everyone remembers your beer of choice and are genuinely happy to see you. I always take visiting friends and girlfriends there because it’s that place that you just KNOW it will be a good experience!...From the service to the music, it’s always a hit! One important thing to consider: When I walk in there, I have to be realistic: My expectations are for great beer, good food, and good times. And I am never disappointed! I don’t expect amazing, jaw-dropping, Gordon Ramsay level food (they are a Pub, not a trattoria), but they are very good at doing the dishes they have available, and will make sure you are very well taken care of!More
