This is a little hole in the wall restaurant that serves authentic home-cooked style Portuguese food. It is a very humble place with one cook (very good BTW), and one server. It fills up for lunch because all the locals close to it go have lunch there. We were lucky to beat the rush by arriving there at 12:45 and most tables were empty, but it filled up within 15min to a 30-40 min wait. There are no more than a dozen tables… the food was fresh, well seasoned, and the portions were generous. If you go there during rush hour, your food is going to take a little longer to get to you (no matter what you order) as there is only one cook, so be patient. They only take cash. Speaking a little Portuguese helps, as I’m not sure the waiter speaks any other language. The prices are easy on the wallet and the food and wine are delicious, so go and enjoy…

Small restaurant that doesn't look like much but where you eat traditional cuisine for a ridiculous price, you feel like you're at home. The owner speaks a little French and takes the time to explain the menu to you. If you want to be among the locals, far from tourist restaurants I recommend +++

In Lisbon, mainly in the poor districts existed many tascas (word for humble eating places). With the development and also due to the Tourism Industry many of those places disappeared and were turned into restaurants. This one still keeps many of the characteristics from the Tasca; the food is good and the prices are quite convenient. Enjoy!

Terrific place! Not enough words to explain how sad a dinner can be-ruined by a silly waiter. As foreigners we were not aware that if we are having dinner have to take a seat on tables with the paper covers, otherwise it means that you will drink only. Obviously the waiter was angry, because was shouting sth in Portugese with the only other table in the bar, pointing us. We ordered drinks and FOOD, which came in metal plates, full with bones. Neither the chicken with vegetables, nor the pork steaks were cooked well. Every other table had dinner in ceramic plates, only we had our dinner in metal, can-like doggy-bowls. Full with bones also. The waiter almost splashed the drinks on us. We have never had such experience before! We would NEVER reccomend that place!

The best local food, hand-made and served by the owner and his wife. Simple and delicious! We enjoyed the small quaint location and the simplicity of the menu. The house wine had no label and was the BEST red wine I've had on my trip to Lisbon. Hand written menu, hand written bill presented item by item was very personable. Although his english was limited, we had no trouble understanding each other. Cash only. As we left and thanked the owner, he shook our hands. We would highly recommend and return.

This place is a small, traditional tasca that has been run by husband and wife team, Sr. Duarte and D. Alda, for over 40 years. The place does look every bit its age. It's known for its namesake, grilled sardines, although my husband is not a fan of the very fishy and boney little fishes, despite its health benefits. (Interesting, another tourist couple the table over shared the same sentiments...) If you want to avoid the fish, there are also other standard Portuguese fares. The locals recommend bitoque, a fried beef steak, or feijoada, a meat and bean stew. Won't be a place I'll tell others to seek out of the way, but if you want to experience some authentic, belly-filling fare in a mom-and-pop with good prices, this place has been around for a while.

Arriving late in Lisbon, we were looking for a restaurant. Restaurante Sardinha is an atypical restaurant, with Portuguese specialities. Everything is excellent and homemade. Not to be missed if you pass by. The owner speaks French and English. it is very inexpensive and exquisite.

TThis restaurant is near Sta Apolonia railway station and looks typical Portuguese (we have lived in PT for 15 years). We arrived at 11.45 and ordered the meal of the day. In PT this means it is already made so is very quickly served. We had a train to catch at 1.15. The owner/waiter said it was nearly ready so I had a glass of wine. At 12.05 he laid the table and soon brought a jug of house wine. Cheerfully we waited, and waited, and eventually asked when our meal would arrive, and waited some more. Just as I was moving to leave he brought our meal, now 12.40. We bolted it down so had no time to enjoy it. Meal cost €23 of which €1.60 was for two 10g pats of butter – i.e. €160 a kilo!! No starter nor dessert. This is expensive for a typical PT place. Left at 12.55. We won’t be back.

We came here given we were hungry and Ready for a lunch, not wanting to go somewhere touristy, and were not dissapointes. Duarte who served us and if not mistaken is also the owner explained to us the different dishes. In the restaurant were mainly locals having their meals, few Tourist. We ate great fish with salad and a traditional portugese meat meal (forgot Name;))- and at the end a portugese Pudding with strong coffee. All was very tasty and came at a very accesible Price. Good place if you look for something good, not fancy, in a old stylished typical Lissabon restaurant.

Location is tiny and very basic and everything should be cleaned a bit more carefully, but it is a great experience eating with the locals. Food was very tasty and cheap, total of 25 in two: we ordered sardines and some other fish, house wine, water, pastel de nata, melon and two Ginjinha. The old man you see in the restaurant is the owner, the cook, the waiter: as I said, a real one man show, and he's pretty funny too! Surprisingly enough he spoke English pretty well. The whole experience felt like you're in your weird uncles kitchen. Overall it was absolutely worth it!

Our AirBnB was right around the corner and our host highly recommended this cheap eatery to us. Seafood meal were really fresh, my boyfriend and I both enjoyed our dishes, but they're on the salty side. It's a small restaurant filled with locals. Waiter (or perhaps owner?) was kind enough to translate the menu. Our first meal in Lisbon and it was fantastic.

I have visited this restaurant since it was located right next to my accommodation and wanted to take away food for home. Even tough they didn't offer take away food, the owner was so kind that packed my food. Chicken with rice and potatoes-so delicious taste like homemade and very reasonably priced. Definitely recommend it!

The owner is very welcoming and notice all detailed need. The food is tasty at surprising inexpensive price, the house wine as well. It feels like having meal at the diner at the corner close to home where you go 4 days in a week.

Very nice food and balance between price and quality. The Arroz doce is a must try desert. If you like genuine and simple place you have to try this restaurant.
