We came as a group of 8 people. The ambient was pretty cold but stuff ware very polite. Wine and food quality were far below expectations but fado performance was the best. There was more than ten artists who proffesionally did their job and generally, we were satisfied. My recomendation: do not come here hungry.

Enjoyed our visit and the show. Were very concerned as the reviews were mixed but it was the only place open on Sunday. We arrived at 9:20 pm the place was crowded as we decided to have dinner before going since the reviews indicated that the food quality was bad. We decided to go see the show and to pay... More

This is definitely better than the reviews talk about. The entertainment is great and the food is a good introduction in to Portuguese cuisine. He waiters were nice and healful. The only thing we would change is the number of people. If there were more people, the atmosphere would be even better. Go and try it!

We went there, our group, and there were many other groups coming for dinner and Fado show. The food was not so good, the wine was low quality, the service very slow, and the Fado show was quite amateurish. In my own humble review it was a waste of good money.

We are from Northern Portugal and want to explore Lisbon a bit. We were recommended this restaurant for its fado. We got stuck in a bit of traffic which isn't surprising in Lisbon and were 5 minutes late for our reservation. Of course they gave our table away and we had to wait for someone to leave. This meant we... More

Great entertainment with Fado music! However, the good is just disappointing all round. I would still say, give it a go, as the entertainment is really what you are paying for!

Visited with family and friends. Nice, uncomplicated Portuguese cuisine. Pleasant fado singing. Reasonable prices.

We went late (after dinner) for the Fado music and thoroughly enjoyed the singing. Every 20 minutes, a new singer/group showed up to entertain us. All were very talented. The cover charge was reasonable and included bread and olive oil. Topped with a bottle of Vino verde, all was good.

Touristy place, with predominantly groups, which are often too loud, because not really interested in Fado. The food is just average, the menu small. The Fado show itself has excellent singers and dancers, unfortunately often noisily disturbed by ignorant tourist groups

Staying in Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria

Neighbourhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
