We thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal at Farol de Santa Luzia. Great service. Cozy traditional atmosphere. Our soups were delicious. The stuffed chicken was a hit. But the pork and shrimp Cataplana cooked in a traditional copper pot was the show stopper. Shrimp, clams sausage, bacon and pork cooked together to create an incredibly flavorful stew. Listed as a dish... More

Good Portuguese traditional food, efficient service. Definitely recommended. Very affordable for the quality but again Lisbon is not very expensive.

We stopped in here on our last, rainy night in Lisbon. My husband had wanted to try this restaurant anyway, and it was a bit too slippery to head down the hill to Rossio, which had been our original destination. We shared the tasty fish stew, which made it a very economical last dinner -- no complaints; everything was as... More

We had a nice evening with friends at the restaurant. Service was efficient. Two of us shared a seafood cataplana which was very good for the price. Desserts were fine, but not exceptional. The vinho verde at 18€50/bottle was a nice choice and we ended up ordering 2 bottles for the four of us.

Had a great meal here during our short break to Lisbon. Both fish and meat dishes were excellent, and the service was great. Would definitely go here again.

This restaurant was recommended on Tripadvisor and later I saw it by Rick Steves. It delivered. Second night (and third night) in Alfama, Lisbon we dropped in at 6:30 and were seated. Food and wines were very good. Main course was their fish stew, Cataplana served in copper pot was great and seemed that every second table was ordering it.... More

We wanted to eat somewhere 'real' and Portugese and this place delivered everything so well. The service was swift and friendly and the food was so delicious too. A lovely atmosphere inside a real quality restaurant. And the price? wow! Even with the exchange rate at a low it was still a bargain - if I could I would return... More

We were greated and seated in a friendly and quick manner by an gentleman, whom I presume is the owner. After perusing the menu, our order was taken, but due to communication issues our order was a little mixed, but was quickly resolved. The food wasn't overly inspiring, but it was sufficient and tasty, especially the homemade French fries. The... More

Hello Lee, Thank you very much for your review! Let me address the thickness of the steak issue: The reason why the steak is thin is because you are ordering the Bitoque which is made like so. It is a very old and common recipe and to be more true to the origin it is around 100gr, thin and grilled/fried... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
