Very nice restaurant, great for fish-lovers, but also offers nice vegetarian food (though we recommend sharing dishes). Nice wine selection. Super-friendly staff, cozy place.

The atmosphere was very cozy and the food was delicious. We had the couvert, a cataplana (a plate that serves two), half a bottle of white wine and water and we spent around 40 euros (which I think is absolutely fair). This is so far the best meal we had in Lisbon. We had no reservation and we didn't wait...... More

This little restaurant serves local fish and meat in simple surroundings at good value. But it disappoints us when perfectly good ingredients have their flavour and colour cooked to within an inch of dullness. Regrettably this was the case here. We ordered the recommended fish dish for two which promised to be a celebration of seafood and white fish in... More

We wanted to have a dinner into the very well known area of Alfama, and we ended up in choosing this restaurant. Nice and cosy restaurant - good service and tasty food.

We ordered the Cataplana de Peixes a' Farol which was absolutely amazing, not too be missed. If you're like me you maybe reluctant to order a stew with clams and fish in it. Don't be in this case it will be one of the most amazing meals you have ever had. The stew is served with rice and potatoes (the... More

I thought this was not bad at all. I had morcella to start and then pork ribs which were nicely marinated and perfectly cooked. My wife had clams then fish, and again it was good. Attentive service and good house wines. Perfectly nice place to east.

Predominantly fish based menu but also meat dishes too. Traditional Portuguese decor, with friendly attentive staff. Reasonably priced for good quality food in a pleasant restaurant.

Visited here on our first night in Lisbon. Four adults with two young children. Staff excellent, food excellent and decor excellent! Everyone in the group was very happy. We really felt we were lucky to find this place and get a table as it was full on a Monday night! Well done all!

We made a last minute reservation for our final night in Lisbon and were glad we did. The restaurant is frequented by locals and tourists alike which gives it a nice atmosphere. It is cosy inside and a constant stream of visitors comes in hoping to be seated. We had bread with olives, traditional soup and then all a fish... More

Staying in Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria

Neighbourhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
