Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Simple tavern, with tables both inside and outside, near Piazza De Sao Paolo.
Honest prices, portions not abundant but tasty.
We had shrimp pancakes and fried squid along with garlic olives.
Very good sauces accompanying

Cute place with a menu not too varied, but of quality: delicious green peppers with salt and cheek with mushrooms.
The potatoes are also good. For starter, main course and side dish we spent € 25 per person including wine

Of all the meals in Lisbon, the least tasty. All good, all in all, but nothing compared to the exquisite flavors tried in other restaurants in the city.
The octopus salad and smoked cod are good (ni); the mushroom au gratin stuffed with hummus and the scrambled eggs with chorizo and cornbread are more tasty. Very young staff and environment, average prices.

A good sized tapas restaurant located just off one of the main strips, there are plenty of bars and other nightlife in the vicinity. Service was pleasant and friendly.
We opted for the curried pancakes which were a very generous portion, somewhat more than I would normally except for a tapas style dish. They were ok, but rather on the dry side. The salmon “meat” balls were better, a nice tasty sauce and again, a quite generous portion. Alongside that we had a bowl of rice which included broccoli, courgette and cauliflower mixed in with it. This was an enormous portion and very hot, although somewhat bland in taste.
We had a tray of olives and bread brought to the table, which in retrospect I should probably have ignored, but instead naively assumed it was just a generous gesture on their part, so I was rather annoyed to find I had been charged around €12 for this when the bill came. I assume this is just something they do to rip off gullible tourists, since I did not notice this approach at any of the other tables. That said, the olives were very good indeed.
Overall, this was a fairly average meal, and the charge for the unwanted bread and olives left a rather sour taste in our mouths. Not somewhere I’ll return to.

Located in Praça de Sao Paulo, just off Pink Street, this small restaurant offers amazing tapas dishes! Special mention for the “Adelaida Prazer” but the other 2 dishes we had (“Frei Xavier Fróis” and “Master Cacilhas”) were also excellent. Service as impeccable as the atmosphere.

A great restaurant in the heart of Lisbon with creative and delicious cuisine. Restaurant discovered by chance during our walks in the center. A “must go” for a change from traditional Portuguese cuisine!
Smoked meat croquettes. Parmentier of Portuguese sausages on a bed of sweet potatoes, stuffed Portobello mushrooms… everything was divine!

Traditional tapas restaurant, ask to be seated outside which is in a lovely square. We hadn’t realised so we’re seated inside but they were very accommodating and moved us outside to eat.
Food was delicious, the sliced steak was amazing as was the cod and prawns.
Very close to Pink Street so it was a great spot to people watch.

The hotel is a short walk from Cais do Sodre station in a bustling, atmospheric area near Pink Street. You can sit inside, or outside in a lovely cobbled square. The food is delicious and good value. We had Padron peppers, shrimp pancakes, sweet potatoes and garlic prawns. All were great, as was the white sangria. Lovely and helpful staff. Would definitely go back.

This was a pleasant surprise! Tosca is surrounded by a lot of drinking places so is a bit of a foodie oasis. The food could be classified as large tapas. All dishes are beautifully presented and there is a wide range to choose from with 50% of the main course selection being fish. The waiters are helpful and friendly. They have outdoor seating in a small square. Very professional and a delight.

This place opens for lunch at 1:00 and has seating inside and outside in the plaza in front of the restaurant. The bruschetta is very nice as are the padron peppers. Service is efficient and friendly. A good choice for lunch.

Arriving into Lisbon very late, and starving, we chanced upon Taberna Tosca and were delighted with our meal there. Doors open to the busy street outside on a warm, muggy evening, plied with tapas and drinks, we couldn't have been more content. Lovely service, and lovely restaurant. Definitely recommended.

We didn’t speak Portuguese and the staff wasn’t very helpful. The menu wasn’t clear and one dish that arrived was probably not the one we ordered, but we weren’t able to ask the waiter and it wasn’t very good either. My octopus salad was way too seasoned and you couldn’t taste the fish at all, just the onions, spice and a sour taste probably due to the oil or the vinegar. Wouldn’t recommend.

We made an reservation a day before and stood at the door waiting for 5 minutes. Everyone saw us, nobody bothered to say anything, ask anything or show they cared.
When someone finally asked, we got a table that had not been cleaned after the previous guests (crumbs of some sort). Instead of cleaning (and I would assume disinfecting nowadays), we got a placemat dropped onto the table as well as a menu.
By that time we felt so unwelcome and so bad, we just left.
Our worst experience in Lisbon, because we generally find people very friendly everywhere. At Tosca, hospitality is not part of the dictionary.

Portuguese tapas at their best. We passed by and by chance we went inside which we did not regret. We were a family of 4 with two teenagers. We ordered 5 tapas and we couldn't eat them all. All tapas can be shared between four. Well prepared, reasonably priced and above all very good. We really recommend this place and an extra plus for the 70s and 80s music that was played 😀🥂.
