The MOMA is perfect! We have been there for the 5th time. The fish is super fresh, deliciously prepared, you are given advice, the waiter (young and gifted male) made our day. Wonderful desserts of which I recommend the tarte with dulce di lece and raspberries. THANKS A MILLION

Headed for this place after reading a review in Lonely Planet, and later found out it featured on Rick Stein's excellent weekends away programme. Had dinner here twice, as it was excellent value. The specials were varied and between us we ate some great veal, seabass, salmon and cod over two evenings. The desserts were also delicious and the staff... More

Saw this restaurant on the Rick Stein in Lisbon.we tried three of his recommendations this was by far the best! Excellent food beautifully served. Lots of fresh vegetable choices Unlike other restaurants here. Our group of four ordered garlic prawns and salads followed by tuna, grouper squid and lamb chops. All were excellent very fresh and perfectly cooked. The owner... More

Chose this after watching Rick Stein's long weekend in Lisbon.Very good value restaurant, highly recommended. I had the grilled grouper, my wife the sole for our main dishes, very nicely cooked. The house white wine (Alentejo) was very good. The service was excellent, friendly and efficient. The prices were very reasonable, this was probably the best value we had while... More

We have just finished a wonderful meal of octopus, new potatoes, sautéed spinach, with some delicious red wine, finishing off with a light Portuguese dessert and a full bica (espresso). Fantastic atmosphere with very attentive service. Always very helpful staff with great recommendations. Local favourite, where clearly dignitaries lunch. Don't be fooled by the discreet entrance!!!

Great food, well presented and well priced. Very friendly and competent owner and staff. No touts outside as they do not need them. Right in the middle of the tourist restaurants which are overpriced and according to some reviews may be did honest. If in the area do not miss this place.

Weekend trip to Lisbon encouraged by Rick Stein (Thanks Rick!) we reserved one of the restaurants that he mentions for our first night in this wonderful City. As previous reviewers have said, we ran the gauntlet of people thrusting menus at us for quite busy restaurants which we ignored as we had confirmed reservation! When we arrived a few minutes... Went to a stylish shop craft shop (Terespavao.com) thought they would know where to eat , and they recommended Moma , how right they were. Beautifully cooked fresh fish, stylish setting, definitely worth going to. One criticism is the wine list is a little too restricted . Portugal has great wines, and I would have liked a little more choice... More

Probably our favourite meal out in Lisbon. Simple grilled seafood done well with friendly service. We both had specials: John Dory and Sea Bream - grilled and served with potatoes and greens. I also had lemon meringue for dessert. All very tasty and finished off with generous amount of port. One of our more reasonable meals but quality very high.

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
