We ate here before leaving Lisboa. WOW... the food was so good!! The plate of meat was genereous (order the first menu, it's enought for one person) and the sides were delicious. We paid only 18€ for 2 plates of grilled meat, 2 sides and 2 drinks! And the owner is very kind (she might be tough af the first sight, but very smiling once you told her the food is good...). Spread the news, it worth it!!

If you're looking for an inexpensive meal that will leave you extremely satisfied, definitely go here. The chicken is so juicy and tender, perfectly grilled and the sauce is amazing. Definitely get the meal with the chicken, sausage and ribs, you wont go wrong. The rice is also really good. Everything is perfect. This can easily get very busy so if you dont mind waiting, just go a few minutes before opening time so you dont have to wait too long.

Such a small quirky little joint. Decided to visit based on a recommendation and it was fantastic. The lady chef (I assume the owner) was beyond helpful, took pity on us trying to decide to what was best as it’s given by size really, like 1/2 a chicken or rack of ribs etc. Recommended what we should order based on how much we could eat rather than waste food! We got a mixed box 2; chicken, ribs and sausage with rice. Everything was so juicy to the point I was licking my fingers afterwards. The chips were also fantastic. It’s cheap and a little out of the way but it’s fantastic and the best food I’ve had in a long time.

To start off my review, the cook is undeniably racist towards Asians (and possibly to other nationalities who aren't Europeans, going with the other reviews) and this is the first time I am ever writing a negative review for any establishment, so it has certainly left an impact on me. I would give this place zero stars if it were possible. I made the arduous trek up the many stairs and hilly slopes to arrive at this eatery on a Sunday in January at 9pm, as it had stated that it closes at 10pm. Upon arrival, I noticed that there were two middle aged men sitting by the tables next to the window, and 3 couples in line waiting for the food. As soon as the cook saw me, she started shouting at me very loudly that the place was closed. She repeated that 3 times in total, and ended with the line "there I said it 3 times!!", as though I were deaf or couldn't understand English (not that it would have been excusable anyway). It did seem from her tone as though she couldn't bear for me to even step into the place to look at the menu, as though I were a dirty stray animal she had to chase away. All this occured as I stood by the front entrance before I had even set a single step into the store or said a word. She didn't stop shooting me dirty looks until I finally stepped away from the entrance. As this was happening, the two middle aged men laughed and looked at me as though it were a comedy. Some person in line asked her if she had a long day. I heard her say something insulting about Chinese people to the customers (who were all Caucasian), aware I could hear everything. 5 minutes after this whole fiasco, a European man arrived and stepped into the store to order food. She initially told him that they were closed (very politely might I add), but then when he mentioned travelling all the way from overseas to eat there, she relented and said he could stay and she will cook him something. By that point, I decided to leave. TLDR,: the cook is extremely hostile towards patrons of Asian origins, and overtly racist. I think it is important to be aware of that before visiting this store, especially if you appear to be from Asia. It doesn't matter which country you come from (as we look the same to people like her), as a Southeast Asian living in Europe, I am certainly not exempted from such treatment. Perhaps if I was travelling in a group she would have kept herself in check due to safety in numbers. To add, I would like to see how she reacts to a tour group of Chinese nationals (or another Asian equivalent) entering her store. So while I would discourage single minority travellers from visiting her store as it would be easier for her to get away with this behaviour, it would be interesting if a huge group of us were to descend upon her store. It would probably be a lot easier for her to just put up a sign stating "Asians not welcome".

We loved loved this hidden gem! The chicken was so juicy and flavorful! We were sooooo happy we stopped by here! I have to say IT IS the BEST chicken I’ve ever had! No joke it’s highly addictive!! Words cannot do justice! We ordered the piri piri chicken with sides of rice and salad and a Portuguese sausage with 2 different sides of salad. It’s a small shop so you have to keep in mind the owner has to attend both to the grilling and attend the customers that comes in. We were lucky to have the opportunity to chat with the owner and she is a super sweet lady that really cares about the customers that comes in and she is very passionate about the quality of the food that she serves. I would come eat here over any of the commercialized food that’s out there. I will be back soon!

Do NOT miss this place. During the time we went they open during 6pm on weekdays, and all day starting at noon on the weekends. I think the hours were wrong online, we tried going at 12noon on a Thursday and she was not open yet. Very small place, hole in the wall, but everything we had was out of this world. It is a one woman show, she does all the cooking, orders, cash register, everything. So if there is a line expect to wait a little bit. But it is WORTH it. Make sure you get the spicy sauce on the meat, it is not overly spicy, but adds amazing flavor. We got a 1/2 chicken, 2 ribs, small garlic rice, and small spinach and it was 10.44 euros. Can not beat the prices for the quality of the food. There is very minimal seating (2 tables inside and maybe 2 outside max), but if you take right out of the restaurant and right down the hill, there is a park close by which has tables. So you can do take out and go eat in the park. The park also has a drink stand if you want. I would make sure you know what you want before getting to the counter, especially if it is busy. I would also make sure to have close to exact change if you can.

It was very sad. We have tried to have a meal at this place twice: 1 - Friday evening the place that is very tight was full, just one table outside. The owner was lost in her own disorganization and talked with us like we were her employee, in a very rude way. We decide come back the next day, as the reviews of this place are very nice. 2 - Saturday in the lunch time we went there, the place was EMPTY (2 people just) and the other table was empty. We asked if we could have a table and she, first asked if we were there in the previous evening, we confirmed and after she told us that for us would be possible just for take way. Very sad, clearly she didn't want to serve us and treated us very very bad. Apparently she don't serve/like Brazilians. RACIST! I dont recommend this place. The portuguese people are very nice and polite. This Lady dont represent the portuguese hospitality/ cuisine

Prices are very affordable and the chicken was good. But the person doing it all as a one-woman show was crazy! First of all, we had to find the place around 30 minutes from where google led us because you cannot find it easily. Waited outside for another 15 minutes because it’s too small to go inside and there was one table eating inside and another family waiting for their orders to be taken. She then asked rudely what am I doing outside. If I want to come in to order or leave her restaurant. Then as I ordered, she was multi tasking doing the service, cooking, waitressing, washing the dishes, singing, talking, shouting, all at the same time. Took another 45 minutes to finally get my food while standing the whole time in front of the counter. My husband was waiting outside sitting on the outdoor chairs because there was no room then came another man lining next to me asking to be seated. The woman just told him to clean the table outside where my husband was seated and bring the utensils and place mat as she handed it to him. She then told him to let my husband leave. Poor guy... he told me, I never knew I work part time here! At least he had a sense of humor. We wanted to eat there but she already was assuming we are doing take away by letting my husband leave the table.. I couldn’t wait to leave as the place was so cramped and hot. It was so chaotic that we ate at a park nearby just to enjoy our food. It was a weird experience. She was also speaking and shouting in Portuguese and since the reviews said she’s very racist, she may be cursing at us because the customers before and after us were also tourists. You can try it if you want to experience it all but I will definitely not go back there. #sorrynotsorry

The most delicious chicken you will EVER eat! We've been coming to Lisbon for years and our family dreams of this chicken. No chicken will ever compare. The owner is delightful and the hardest working lady you will ever meet-- from perfectly cooking each chicken to talking with guests, bussing tables and running the register, she is a rockstar. Be patient, enjoy the experience and do not get out of line (or go early)... it will be worth it. A standout affordable restaurant in Lisbon and must-visit for chicken, grilled meats and delicious side dishes. Do not leave Lisbon without visiting this little gem!

If you are expecting a well organised and normal restaurant then forget it. This place is a marvel. It is entirely run by one lady who does all the cooking, cleaning, serving. Is fascinating watching her throwing the chicken and the ribs and sausages on the grill and then taking orders and having the odd little joke with customers. There are only about 6 seats in this tiny place so most people get a takeout. It is often crowded and you will have to wait. But my goodness, the chicken with all the Portuguese spices is simply to due for when you eventually get it. I had the Mista 2 ( chicken, ribs and sausages) Incredible taste and well worth the wait. Huge portion and cheap as well. Well worth it if you are prepared to be humbled to eat fresh and passionately prepared food.

THE BEST CHICKEN!!!! I am a big chicken lover and I do not say this lightly but the chicken here was AMAZING! The flavours were just right, I can’t believe this tiny place produces such fine poultry. The seating here is sparse so if you do get seating then you’re one of the lucky few, we went here twice. The first time we got seated and the second time it was so busy the queue was out the door. You must also try the garlic rice and the tomato salad. The lady who runs the show and the chefs are full of character and really add a great vibe to the place. I sometimes think of this chicken when I’m alone....is that too much?

If the many negative reviews of this 'restaurant' hasn't already put you off visiting, I am offering you a final chance to turn back. I have never in my whole life been disrespected as much as I have been tonight by the sole owner and chef of this 'restaurant'. The customer service is so non existent, that you'd be better off seating yourself and walking behind the counter to cook your own food (it probably would taste better too). Don't waste your time, and I urge you not to give your hard earned money to this 'restaurant'. Go to an establishment that values customer service and doesn't thrive to ruin your day.

We arrived at 8:30pm to which we were told that they had only had enough chicken left for an 8:30pm booking - despite there being loads of chicken still being prepped for the grill. Very disappointing, as was really looking forward this based on other reviews. It’s a bit poor that a place which specialises in chicken can run out of chicken so early… The other reviews seem accurate in that woman who runs this place gives off very bad vibes - she was rather rude/abrupt, not friendly at all.

One of the best, most authentic, and homely meals I've gotten in Lisbon. The piri piri chicken was the best chicken I've tasted in recent mind; the same with the fried and garlic rice. Small and cozy operations - with little space to actually dine, but most people got takeaway anyway. A place I can recommend, but do please consider that it is a one (wo)man show and the food takes a while to cook as it is made to order and a little unorganized, so patience and understanding is key. The arguably best and least best thing about the place is the cook; showing kindness (for not taking any tips, however much you may insist on it), friendliness for taking an interest in the people that eat at the restaurant and a bit of cheekyness for the way of joking with people in line and denying people to come in when there were not any more food to cook. All in all, I can give the restaurant and the cook my best recommendation, which is that if I'm ever to set foot in Lisbon again, my only insistence will be to eat at this place.

If you get served the food is absolutely incredible. Very reasonably priced and cannot understate how good the food is. We tried pretty much everything and it was so tasty, even the rice! However, you will not be able to book a table. We called about 10 times and emailed and never got anything back. Some people manage to book a table - probably enough seats for 10 people at most. The booking get preferable treatment - they get food a lot quicker and will have food saved for them. This can be very annoying since you cannot book. We got there at 7:30pm and did not eat until 11pm. We managed to grab a table outside (only one for two people). The staff were relatively apologetic and we got lots of free stuff too. Please go here for a takeaway to ensure you are not disappointed. Also, make sure you get there EARLY. Or you will be told there is not enough food left. This may not be the case, but they do it to make sure for the booking. Even though there were some issues I would 100% go again because I cannot explain how good the food is.
