It was my second time to enjoy dinner at Gambrinus . Excellent service and food . I would rate this restaurant no 1 in Portugal . Flambé service is done with a great flair and professionalism . Must experience if in Portugal as I highly recommend .

Had not been here for many a year. Everything was excellent. Ambience, Service, Wine list and menu. A little on the pricey side but then quality has its cost. Location is very good near the action in down town Lisbon just of the Rossio. Highly recommend

We had lunch on New Year's eve. The restaurant was bustling and festive. Dark wood and rather small but feels cozy not cramped. We had creamed soup to start (vegetable and shellfish) and my husband had the concho (pork) and I had the seafood rice. Both dishes were outstanding. Service is excellent and professional though a bit stuffy.

Very traditional restaurant with great service. Established 78 years ago. Great seafood served in lavish style. They even bring you the meat inside the lobster's legs and head after serving you the main body..Waiters in the old style red jackets. Fast and curteous service.

How disappointing ! This restaurant had been recommended to us, so we were prepared to forgive the old fashioned decor and the tepid seafood bisque starter. However when the main courses arrived lukewarm too enough was enough. My husbands squid was flaccid, cold and with soggy batter - we sent it back. When the replacement finally arrived only slightly warmer... More

Well located beautiful room. Extremely high end service. Delicious food. Very very old style. Not modern or trendy. Somewhat limited menu.

We can't say enough great things about this restaurant. Our only wish is that we could have returned another night, however we left the very next night after we ate there. There is so much to say, but suffice it to say the food was exquisite and unusual (the Nightly specials are very interesting including the "Pheasant Pie" a specialty... More

I was invited for a dinner. The restaurant is in downtown with many restaurants in the street, while entering a person from another restaurant told me that Gambrinus is very expensive, I thought "I am not paying" The restaurant is classic well decorated and well managed. Good good and wine. Excellent service. I think the price is bit high, if... More

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
