We stumbled upon this quaint little cafe, while strolling in alfama. Well not little actually. It has a pretty quirky setting, very characteristic of the neighbourhood it is in. Very colorful chairs and couch covers, cushions. Pretty large space to move around and very conducive music playing in the background. I dint know that this was a popular cafe untill... More

Fresh, quality ingredients are the reason to visit Pois Café. Food was simple, but effective, yet the service a bit messy.

They have some great old chairs and couches were you can sit down and enjoy a drink together with a small snack. The service is friendly and a nice and relaxing atmosphere.

I loved this place!! It has a really arty and relaxed atmosphere with sofas, cool paintings, books and art around. The menu and food is amazing, with lots of vegetarian dishes, quiches, soups and fresh juices :) There were lots of young people and couples in here and it has a great vibe.

We found the food and service good and the decoration and environment really beautiful, but the coffee was not the best and we found it a bit pricey.

The room is beautiful, characterful & interesting. The decor is a bit too messy for my liking, but it has a relaxed feel. The cake was excellent but the coffee was average. The service was just about OK. This coffee shop is worth a visit but it isn't our favourite in Lisbon.

Staying in Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria

Neighbourhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
