our Tourguide Jaime from Lisbon Inside gave this recommendation and it was really the best steak in town. Get the steak with the works and the trindade sauce plus an egg on top (!), its really great. We called before and that was smart, because we immediately got a 4 persons table for 2 ( i like space) where other... More

Cervejaria Trindade is one of the most well known restaurants or "cervejarias" in Lisbon. Foodwise you can do better in many places around Lisbon - not that the food is bad here, but the Portuguese capital has so much high quality offer everywhere that is almost overwhelming. Having a meal at Trindade involves the whole experience of seating in this... More

Total tourist trap from the moment you walk in. Beer is commercial brand "Sagres", period, there are no other brands. Food is commercial, not made to order. Staff is reluctant at best. The prices are the biggest clue that you are in a tourist trap. There are dozens of great restaurants within one minute´s walk. It is sad that this... More

This place is very nice for a large group since they have long tables. The food was outstanding as well!

We chose this restaurant as it was close to our hotel and we had checked in late at night. It is a bit of a novelty / potential tourist trap place however the building is interesting. We both ordered steak. Whilst the food was fairly basic in terms of presentation and service was quite laid back it was still enjoyable... More

This is an old restaurant and nice food. They bring 4 pieces of bread, wheel cheese, green and black olive paste without asking, dont think that its free of charge, we paid for each item (totally 10 euro).

Its a very old and historical cervejaria. You'll get everything that you are entitled to: Beatiful decoration, fresh beer, good mood and playful middle aged waiters and average+good food. I say its for tourist because knowing Lisbon you can have better steak with better price in other tinnier restaurants.

This tastefully decorated restaurant - a converted beer house- is centrally located and attracts many visitors. Seating is informal with rows of ancient tables. The restaurant specializes in sea food and fish. Two of us had their recommended dish of crabs, prawns and mussels all cooked with rice in a bawl, to be shared. Their traditional fish preparation was presented... More

On our first night in Lisbon we popped in this wonderful place for dinner. Nice environment, awesome location, great food (fish and desserts particularly) and drink (Bohemia beer!). Service was fast and effective, nothing more to report. Prices were also not high at all considering the city standards, so everything went perfectly - there is no reason to not to... More

The Cervejaria Trindade used to have great steaks (the poivre sauce one was particularly good), tables with white cloth, attentive servers with old-school manners and a subdued ambiance. Fast-forward a few years and through Lisbon's transformation into a tourist destination, and the Trindade now has a series of generally confused and obviously overworked servers, clad in some Disney version of... The Trindade Beer Hall, the oldest and most beautiful beer hall in Portugal, was created in 1836, in the space which had, since the 13th century been occupied the Santissima Trindade Convent. In what used to be the monk's refectory, amongst the 19th century painted tile panels, the exceptionally good beer, and the best dishes of traditional Portuguese Cuisine and the freshest of seafood, you will discover why our costumers feel so well looked after at Trindade.

Staying in Chiado & Carmo

Neighbourhood Profile
Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.
