Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a lovely coffee shop half way up the hill in Sinta. They sell a very tempting range of pastries, which were extremely difficult to resist. There is an attractive roof patio area with tables and chairs to sit and watch the world go...by while you enjoy your coffee break. The place was clean neat and tidy with pleasant staff. Prices are reasonable.More

We two stopped for a snack in late Aug 2023. Pushing past the long line waiting to order takeout, we were seated in less than 5 minutes. SERVICE: 4.5. She was cheerful and prompt despite the crowd. FOOD: 4.0. Very good Pastel de Nata and...Espressos. AMBIANCE: 3.0. Clean and lightly decorated; comfortable.More

Excellent. Fresh sandwiches, tosti’s and croissants lots of choice of toppings/fillers. Lots of excellent pastries and coffees/drinks. Most expensive sandwich €2,40. Perfect service. Founded in 1862 and going strong. Highly recommend!

beautiful Portuguese old-style café with the best Traveseiros and wonderful friendly service. Do go here if you are in Sintra and have some fresh pastry with coffee.

Amazingly efficient service and pastries were very tasty. We had tea, coffee and an assortment of baked goods (travesseiros were the stand out) all served with 5 mins of ordering. Would go back again

Supremely disappointed. Major tourist trap or having a bad day? We were lucky enough to get there between crowds (3pm). My cappuccino was sickeningly sweet and my wife’s latte was served cold. We tried several treats and neither of us could eat them. So many...better places. Skip this one.More

This place was mentioned in multiple sources as a must try. They were right! We popped in and got one, the egg and almond pastry. We walked across the street to wait for Uber and tried it. Wow. So good! It was still warm and...so rich. It was so good I walked back across to buy another one to take back and enjoy later. The almond only. I liked them both but the egg and almond is such a treat. Definitely stop buy and get more than one!More

I went to Piriquita to try the famous Travesseiros and Queijada da Sintra. I absolutely loved the travesseiros with a cup of Americano. Travesseiros is super flaky, light pastry with a delicious egg-almond cream which is perfectly balanced. The Queijada was interesting: it was very...simple and tasting like cheese. I would have that as a breakfast option next to my toast!More

I've been to this pastelaria in Sintra a few times. They make incredible small sweet cheese based pastries and cakes and have great coffee. This is the equivalent of the Pastéis de Belém shop and established around the same time. It's a real must-visit place....The staff are friendly and efficient.More

We came here on the recommendation of a couple of locals and following a fun morning at Quinta da Regaleira. Cafe looks basic and was busy when we arrived, appearing quite chaotic. However we could not have been more wrong - the waiter who looked...after us was some kind of genius who memorised orders, cleaned tables and sat people at free tables all in the blink of an eye! The coffee and pastries were delicious and very welcome and of course you must sample the Traveissero - such a treat. I can imagine it's always busy but you won't have to wait long and it's absolutely worth the wait!More

Casa Piriquita, Sintra Portugal: Taking a break from Pasteis, we headed for quality travesseiros which is a specialty in Sintra. Casa Piriquita is the institution for that. Forget about other cafes. Take bus 434 and stop at the historical centre and say no to other...tourist traps. This is so good that police, security guards and every authority figure stop by at the bar for a quick coffee and snack. The travesseiros are pillow soft and cracks off at pastry fun. The filling is soft and oozy. #eatstylishtravelstylishMore

I am not exaggerating. The café’s travesseiro is a must-eat. Travesseiro is a cylindrical puff pastry filled with almond-egg cream. We had read about it before our trip. Hence, we made a beeline for the café for lunch when we arrived in Sintra. We ordered...one to share as dessert. The light flaky puff pastry and buttery-soft almond-egg cream that melts in your mouth especially when it is fresh from the oven, had us wanting for more. We visited the café again in the afternoon and this time, we had one each to go with our coffee.More
