Casa Piriquita II in Sintra Is a coffee shop with indoor seating and take away service. A terrace is also available but it had pigeons flying around inside it. The cafe is available at near top of hill. It offers a range of pastries, soft drinks and fruit juices. It was extremely clean. Friendly service. Very relaxed atmosphere. Toilets available downstairs

Casa Piriquita is located in the centre of Sintra and is an important stop if you want to sample the traditional sweets of the area. Instead of going to the Moorish Castle first we rode Bus 434 to the centre of Sintra before the tourists came off the mountain, so we could enjoy Casa Piriquita. My honey and I asked directions from a friendly policeman and within minutes we were sitting at a table at Casa Piriquita. The pastry with the almond filling is the traditional and featured goodie at Casa Piriquita. If the crowd is too large inside the eatery there also is a take-out at the entrance.

I ate ALOT of pastel de nata's on my recent trip to Portugal, and these were the best, especially if you have a sweet tooth like I do. If you do not like them sweet, buttery and flaky, but are looking for something less sweet and less buttery, I'd ask why you're ordering it in the first place. Don't go looking for a salad in a donut shop. If anything I'd say it seems to be a bit about timing and when you're getting them. Freshness is important.

Supremely disappointed. Major tourist trap or having a bad day? We were lucky enough to get there between crowds (3pm). My cappuccino was sickeningly sweet and my wife’s latte was served cold. We tried several treats and neither of us could eat them. So many better places. Skip this one.

The travesseiros are just absolutely amazing! Light, soft and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. We had as many as we could during our Sintra visit and enjoyed these pastries with coffee in their small seating area. The service was also great from each of our servers. There is nothing like this anywhere and can't wait to return someday for more.

We had breakfast here three times, and purchased several different types of pastry to take with us. Everything is super high quality and very delicious (especially if you love egg-based sweets). They speak English and were helpful to help us navigate the menu and find what sort of drink and sandwich to order. Very nice and friendly staff! It feels very local, very authentic, and warm of heart. Extremely recommendable! Best breakfast time is 9 am before it gets full. (Piriquita 2 up the street has the same sweets but no table service - can be useful if it's too full in Piriquita 1).

What a wonderful find. Fantastic service and beautiful tasteful pastries of which some were gluten free. The coffee beans used in the coffee left a lovely taste and the aroma was exceptional. We had four pastries a green tea and six coffees and the cost was only €15 , definitely worth a visit.

We came here on the recommendation of a couple of locals and following a fun morning at Quinta da Regaleira. Cafe looks basic and was busy when we arrived, appearing quite chaotic. However we could not have been more wrong - the waiter who looked after us was some kind of genius who memorised orders, cleaned tables and sat people at free tables all in the blink of an eye! The coffee and pastries were delicious and very welcome and of course you must sample the Traveissero - such a treat. I can imagine it's always busy but you won't have to wait long and it's absolutely worth the wait!

Traditional Portuguese bake and sandwich shop in Sintra since 1862. This location is well known and tourists flock to it. They serve all types of pastries as well as the famous Travesseiro . Definitely get one.

A cute little patisserie that came recommended for their Travesseiro Doce and Queijada de Sintra! You can also get great coffee and other delicious pastries or bread. The place is great, the food delicious, but the staff is a little brusque, which was a surprise because everywhere else we went, the staff at restaurants or cafes were really nice and gracious. But we enjoyed our experience at Piriquita!

I had read recommendations on blogs about this address and saying to stop there to buy and taste the queijada and travesseiro. Well I can now confirm that it is very good! Fair prices, well-organized queue with numbered ticket system (if the queue is too long, finish going up the street; a second shop is hidden at the top). A little difficulty in understanding with the person serving but nothing insurmountable.

During my visit to this place, I was struck by the exceptional quality of the travesseira, a truly exquisite dessert that exceeded all expectations. The preparation was impeccable, with flavors that blended harmoniously into an unforgettable tasting experience. However, the overall experience was overshadowed by the behavior of the staff. Contrary to what one would expect in a hospitality environment, I found the staff extremely rude. This lack of courtesy and professionalism significantly affected my perception of the place. It's a real shame that such a delicious dessert is served in a context where kindness and customer care seem to be overlooked. I firmly believe that the quality of the service is just as important as the quality of the food offered, and in this case, unfortunately, the venue did not live up to the standards of hospitality I expected. In conclusion, while the travesseira is undoubtedly worth trying for its culinary excellence, the service leaves much to be desired. I hope that the restaurant takes this feedback into consideration to improve the approach to the customer, because kindness, friendliness and professionalism should never take second place.

Our tour guide recommended this café in order to taste one of Portugal’s famous pastries. Sintra’s famous almond and egg cream dessert, Travesseiro de Sintra, also known as the “large pillow” can be found at this dessert shop, Piriquita. This store is in the center of old town Sintra along a side street. You just can’t miss the yellow building. We found the service to be friendly and fast. The servers could speak English quite well. The shop itself is large with a number of tables. We had no problem on a busy day. We ordered cold water with our Travesseiro. I still prefer “Pasteis de Belem” over Travesseiro. The almond flavoring in Travesseiro needs to be enhanced. The egg custard is quite similar though. If you found this review “helpful” in any way, please press “LIKE” to let me know.

We stopped in Sintra as part of a tour, and our guide recommended we sample some of the town’s signature pastries. CP is a cute bakery, and for service, you pull a numbered ticket from their machine. Perhaps it was the day we went, but it was overrun with people and difficult to look around inside. The pastries themselves were delicious and the line moved quickly though.

Tourists and locals alike flock to Casa Piriquita for travesseiros (affectionately called pillows) and queijadas, among other treats and sweets. This family business, now in the fifth generation, opened in 1862! Casa Piriquita is in the center of historic Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The pastries of Portugal are delightfully delicious, and it’s hard to pick a favorite. Lots of fun tasting though! Make sure you stop here. Eat in or takeaway.
