Portuguese, Mediterranean, also vegetarian (sometimes vegan) and spice routes cuisine, not forgetting the Moorish influence in Sintra. Slow food. We had a lovely meal here last. The food was outstanding and the service was phenomenal. The owner (sorry can’t remember your name) but he made us feel so welcome, talked us through all the food and was happy to adapt to our requirements if we wanted. The atmosphere was great but the best bit of all was the chocolate truffle for pudding!!!!!!! This was the best desert I have ever had.
Highly recommend a trip to this wonderful restaurant.

Our family of four had a very enjoyable meal at this restaurant. We were able to book online for an outdoor location and they were ready for us on our arrival. The owner was very friendly and explained the menu thoroughly we split several tapas that were all delicious and enjoyable. One of the best meals we’ve had in our two weeks in Portugal. Wish we could go back every night! Prices are very reasonable

This experience was total. The boss of the restaurant really loves his job : learning all his menu in 6 different languages and giving recommandations to his customers in their native language is generally a good sign. We were not disappointed ; all his suggestions were accurate and the food fresh and delicious. Thanks a lot, we really recommend it !

We visited a lot of restaurants during our trip and while all were good, this one tops the list! The whole experience was great from start to finish. We ordered multiple tapas to get the Portuguese feeling and all dishes were very tasty. The restaurant is in a very quiet place so it’s perfect to have a relaxing meal. The restaurant owner really enjoys what he does and explains everything in detail, it was so easy to make conversation with all the staff!

Quaint restaurant away from the centre of town! What a splendid little find. The owner is so warm and welcoming and explains the menu and is certainly so passionate about his restaurant and the food he serves. The dishes are lovely fresh and home cooked ! It was like eating a delicious home made Portuguese dinner. We really enjoyed the experience and would highly recommend dining with them.

Small , run by husband/wife team.
Open evenings only
Booking needed as it’s very good
Lovely chap, front of the house
Even when busy explains the small menu
Wife runs the kitchen
I felt privileged to eat here
I travel the world
Eat in great places
But humbling to eat home cooked food/ great vibes and go home happy .
Really good quality
Well priced food
I asked for hot sauce
I got amazing HOT sauce done by wife chef!!

Really good service! Many interesting meals to choose from and everything was really tasty. They have glutenfree alernatives and took my allergies seriously. I loved how much they seemed to love their work and to present us with their homemade food!

We had two nights in Sintra and went to Nau Palatina for both of them. We don’t usually return to a restaurant as we travel but we did not feel like travellers here, we felt like family. Jose welcomes you at the door and is with you the rest of the night with stories about every dish on the menu, it adds so much to the dinner. Yolanda is the chef and delivers great food with a personal touch, we both thanked her for two amazing meals. After leaving we talked about how their extra attention to everyone in the small restaurant made you feel special and how it made the meal so enjoyable. This is what you would hope every restaurant could deliver but sadly can not.

A local gem of a restaurant. Run by wonderful couple. Wife cooks and (according to him) he does the talking (and serving).
He explains menu (in perfect English). Each night it may change depending on what is fresh for a authentic Portuguese taps or small meals.

Best food experience in Portugal!
The owner it’s lovely, took time to explain the entire menu. The menu it’s a tapas style, sharing, portions are super okay and filling and the taste it’s absolutely divine.
My favourite was the homemade duck pate, which I believe it was out of this world.
The atmosphere it’s great, chill, cozy and they have great music in the background!
Just go! You will not regret it

What a find!
Excellent dishes, beautifully prepared. Such a friendly welcome, from the proprietor, who worked so hard explaining the menu in various languages, serving the tables all by himself, and yet still finding time to interact.
All the dishes were excellent, including the dessert plates.
The meal was a bargain too. It’s such good value.

This was our last night eating out while traveling - I was with my 6 year old son and my 74 year old mother. It was the best night out we'd had in 2 months. We were so warmly welcomed....I had reserved a table out side and yet when we got there given it was a cold night he had moved us inside which was really appreciated as we had not even asked. The owner was wonderful in explaining the entire menu and his family connection to many of the recipes. We had a lovely evening and the food was excellent. we all loved the various and unique dishes and the hummus was by far the best I have ever had.

Went for a romantic weekend with my wife and were looking for a nice place to dine. We were given 4 different suggestions and ended up selecting Nau Palatina without knowing much more than it was a tapas place. Wow! What an experience! What flavour combinations! Excellent service. Really nice people. Just...go! You have to go there at least once in your life!

Recent visit of a week to Lisbon and Sintra and this was my favorite restaurant.
The food was imaginative and delicious. Several dishes were modern interpretations of tradition Portuguese fare. Dishes are prepared as tapas to be shared.
I enjoyed the tuna. Also, their take on hummus was excellent. In general, I would say there are more vegetable used in their dishes than most restaurants we visited and even some vegetarian dishes.
A couple owns and works the restaurant with wife as cook and husband as Maitre D’. The Maitre D’ is very engaging. We heard him singing as he worked and he gave us a thorough description of all the dishes before we ordered. Later we had a longer discussion about music. The soundtrack to our dinner was soulful folk all by artists we were not familiar with but fit the ambiance perfectly.
The dinner was satisfying to stomach and soul.

I have no idea why people are rating this place so high or recommend it. It’s very average food with a really slow service ( we waited for about 50 minutes for our food) when there were only two tables in the restaurant. We have ordered the tuna, the beans, lamb ( under seasoned), pork, prawns, rice and salad. Left feeling hungry and stopped by a kebab shop that was amazing!
