I took a day trip to Sintra from Lisbon a couple of weeks ago and worked up an appetite climbing all those hills at the Castelo dos Mouros and Pena Palace. On the way back to Sintra train station we noticed this little restaurant. It...has both a front entrance and a back entrance on the station side.
We were welcomed and our order was taken. I was surprised at how quickly our food came.
I had the Confit Codfish w/ Sautéed Vegetables and my partner had Seabass w/ Basmati Rice and Vegetables. We washed it down with a glass of wine and water from a funky looking bottle.
I would highly recommend this delightful restaurant.More
Delicious dinner and service at this little gem of a restaurant
Definitely make a reservation if you plan to go there and consider yourself lucky to get a table. This place is small and busy for a good reason- service and food are absolutely amazing....We started out with a glass of crisp white wine each to accompany the cockles with cilantro and grilled shrimp with garlic (paprika?) sauce. Both of those appetizer were delicious and we regretted not having ordered bread to soak up the delicious sauces. We then shared the partridge and duck escabeche with apples which was so fresh and almost like a palate cleanser. It came with a light dressing and peanuts. We then continued with a nice bottle of red wine to go with the sea bass, basmati rice and fresh steamed veggies ( delightful and light) as well as the aged veal ( I ordered it rare and it came rare, a rarity these days …) with potato gratin and the most amazing layers of eggplant and sundried tomatoes ( the best I ever had!) We had room for dessert ( we did 12,000 steps visiting the Moorish castle and Peña palace) so we ordered the chestnuts, and the duo of mousse. Both those desserts were amazing but the chestnuts with pomegranate in a honey/star anise ‘broth’ beat the chocolate and orange mousse. We finished the night Off with some dessert wine next door at the wine and a taxi (called for us by the super nice waiter) ride back to the hotel ! Highly recommend this place and would love to go back some time!!!More
Booked a table for two last night arrived a 2000 hrs on arrival we found a lot of tables were empty but had reserved signs. We were asked to sit very close to another table of 6 in a corner with little space but when...I asked to sit at another table for two with more space the waiter was rude and told us in a loud voice we booked last so had to sit there. There was an area of 4-5 couples tables that although reserved were empty with much more space per table. I can’t comment on the food as we didn’t stay due to the waiters attitude. This was a shame as we have been together for 34 years and have travelled a lot and we’re celebrating a week away for my wife’s birthday.More
Excellent food and choices. Wines on offer excellent. Service was superb from all the waiters. Well suited for Coeliacs and vegetarians. Went for a late lunch after sightseeing and booked a table for the next day. We had the business menu for lunch which was...very good and reasonably priced. Well worth the visit.More
Stopped at this restaurant in Sintra after touring the Moorish Castle and the Park and National Palace of Pena. The lunch special was well priced and excellent food. I had the veal cutlet with an asparagus risotto. The special cam with a soup or salad,...dessert (to die for) and a glass of wine. Great value!More
The guinea fowl over beet risotto was delicious. The duck over the chestnut concoction was only a bit behind. The chestnut soup was also delicious.
The two mousse dessert with the raspberry on top
was a wonderful end to a wonderful meal.
The food was wonderful. Tastefully presented and great flavours. Good value too.
The acoustics were dreadful though. Hard plastic chairs and bare walls.
The toilet was close to the tables and to wash your hands you were in the main restaurant in full view of...all the diners. Very poorly situated.More
