Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stopped by for a travesseiro and pastel de nata after having lunch at Tulhas. The tour guides on my Sintra tour recommended travesseiros, which means large pillow. It looks more like those long pillows you can hug. The pillows are famous in Sintra, and...though I wasn't sure what to expect, when in Rome! The lady who helped me was efficient and polite. The pillow was delicious, better than I expected! The pastry is light and fluffy like air, the light almond cream filling wasn't too sweet, it was just right. I wished I had bought another! This is the second location of the original bakery, but that one was packed! The tour guide suggested going to this one since it's less busy, and he was right!More

The line took forever but the pastries were amazing! Afterwards we walked by the first location and it was way more crowded. I do wish since it is a touristy area that the items in the case were labeled or had some sort of descriptor...as this would speed up the line as people would not be asking “what’s that” to every item.More

A must try bakery in Sintra. They have been known in Sintra since the King's time. The best local and traditional Sintra sweets and pastry. You have to try travesseiros and quiejada de Sintra. Amazing staff and friendly service.

We had pastries and coffee here this morning during a full day tour. The pastries were very good but the wait and the price were not worth the experience.

After our long exploration of Palacio De Pena we came down to the city centre and luckily went to Piriquita for coffee and dessert. Must have the Travesseiro, which was very tasty.

Located within an easy reach of the main road This classic is not to be missed. Grab a number to the right as you enter the front door. The pastries are incredibly light and flakey. We tried the classic almond /egg filled and apple Travesseiros....Definitely recommend!More

The wait was short but well worth it. We had a coffee and their specialty pastry was absolutely amazing. We also bought pastries to takeout and they are super as well. Not to be missed when in Sintra

Great espresso drinks, hot chocolate, pastries, and simple croissant sandwiches. What a treat to have gluten free pastries as well. Highly recommend!

We arrived in Sintra early and Piriquita tempted us in. The weather was cold so a chance to have a hot drink and a pastry was welcome. The cafe was not busy when we arrived and the staff were really helpful in picking out some...speciality pastries to try. 5 minutes later and the cafe was full, so we timed our arrival well. The food was so delicious and the tea and coffee was great too. A lovely place to start the day.More

They serve the same sweets as Piriquita 1 but have no table service, so you can take it to your table. They have a terrace (meaning some people were smoking). So it's not quite as charming as the lower shop, but it's a good option...if the lower one is too crowded.More

Our continued appreciation of the Portuguese pastry showed no signs of slowing down in Sintra as we carefully selected 5 pastries for our lunch time treat. We then sat outside the palace and demolished them with reckless abandon. As always they went down very well...and are highly recommended.More

Nice little pit stop for coffee and the traditional cake of Sintra - Travesseiro. Table service was a little shambolic though; I was sat at a table for quite a while without being acknowledged. The waiter saw me sitting there but tried to avoid making...eye contact. After a few minutes I got up and went to the counter to ask for a menu, after that service was pretty quick. I also wanted some tap water, but the waiter flew away so quickly I didn’t get a chance to ask! So again I had to go up to the counter to ask for the water. Coffee was good, and the cake was lovely. First impressions weren’t good due to poor customer service, but I enjoyed my cake.More

One of Sintra’s oldest bakeries, here one can buy all the local staples and it’s definitely worth sampling pretty much all of them, maybe throughout the day while hiking the nearby hills. Travesseiros and queijadas are the unmissable favorites and while they are all super...tasty, they are certainly a sugar overload.More

Visited on a Friday afternoon during a tour. Tried a travesseiro dessert per our guide's recommendation. Ordered the traditional with almond and cream. I didn't particularly enjoy it, but my husband did. The restaurant itself was very cute, clean, and also had indoor seating.
