You can make so many walks, rent a car and drive along the coast side with amazing views ='miradoura'. And if you want to go faster, the fast roads are in excellent condition. It's only a pitty that most roads have a number on the maps...but not on the signs !More

We went tonight. They made a mistake with our appetiser order, but the way they responded was outstanding. Overall the food was lovely. The place was great. The attention from their staff was first rate. It’s not making a mistake that is an issue. We’ve...all done that. It’s how you respond. Top marks. Definitely going back!!!!More

We have often visited this restaurant and enjoyed excellent meals with great service. We were left waiting more than an hour for a dessert last night which ruined the experience. Despite cancelling one dessert it was still brought and charged for. My wife enjoyed the...meal but both of my courses were well presented but average. The long wait meant a poor experienceMore

We always vowed to return to the Armezam if we ever came back to Funchal and, my goodness, was it worth it again! Wonderful food, wonderfully presented with great service. It's very difficult to describe in detail (the website will tell you all you need...to know) - it really is the sort of establishment you need to experience for yourself. So, I would recommend anyone to give it a go - you won't be disappointed! One tiny glitch however After perusing the website, I decided to book through the booking portal shown on the website itself. This took me to BookTables which I duly used and received confirmation of my booking. On arrival the Maitre d' had no record of it. We were found a table after a little bit of a fuss so no real issue and it certainly didn't spoil the evening OK, I'm positive it wasn't my fault and it may have just been an unlucky glitch between the restaurant's systems and this BookTables outfit but I would advise caution as other parties (and larger ones) may not be so fortunate.More

. We adored this restaurant. The welcome was courteous and genuinely warm. The food was truly superb, the fillet steak was truffle was one of the best steaks i have ever eaten, outstanding presentation and on a par with Michelin one star restaurants in my...humble opinion. The deserts were absolutely stunning. We also opted for premium wine pairing which was well worth the extra fee. What was genuinely refreshing was the level of care and to attention to detail from all members of staff. congratulations to the team and we look forward to returning to this restaurant.More

Up and down in recent years but blew us away. Every dish was wonderful. The lobster starter was borderline Michelin star quality in my opinion, as was the beef tartare. The snapper was amazing.....just so good. Recommend 100%

This was our best dining experience in Funchal from the many restaurants we tried. The food was excellent - from starters to desserts – and while a little on the expensive side, it was no dearer than the fine-dining options in some of the local hotels,...and infinitely better. Portions were the right size, cooked to perfection, and house wine was fantastic. We had a lovely evening which I really couldn't fault. We arrived quite early (19.00) when it was quiet, and the attentiveness of the service reflected that. We were accommodated with a smile and changing to another table was no problem. However, we did notice that as the restaurant got busier, it was harder for the waiting staff to attend to everyone adequately. Many people around us were waiting a long time to receive menus and starters. So if you can, I would reserve a table for an early time.More

Everything about this restaurant is top class. The service is friendly and helpful, the food is beautiful…a work of art…and delicious too. And the wine is lovely. Nothing left to say.

I took my grandparents for there first Michelin star meal. And I was so shocked with the unbelievably terrible service. They concentrated. on the British guests than our table. We were a table of 6 in the corner and we waited 40 minutes for our...starters.50 min for our mains and another 30 minutes for desert. In the that ABSOLUTEY NO ONE came and poured us any wine and walked passed our table like we were invisible. The head waiter was the most arrogant, rude pig of a man who does not know how to conduct himself. €500 on rubbish..never again I hope they get closed down or get there Michelin star taken away immediately!!More

This was without doubt our favourite restaurant in Funchal. It is most certainly well deserving of its Michelin plate. We ate inside of this restaurant and the ambiance was very nice, beamed ceilings with grey chairs and the chefs were in view behind a glass...screen. We had the foie gras and shrimps to start, followed by lamb & veal and sea bass, then for desert we had the chocolate symphony and the deconstructed lemon pie. The food was presented to a very high standard and the flavours worked really well together, the meat was also cooked to perfection. The drinks were nice and the service was fantastic, water was always kept topped up and not long waiting times between courses. All in all we would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Funchal.More
