Doesn't look much from the outside, but in an area full of tourist restaurants, this one is where the locals eat and I think that says a lot. We ate there twice on our two week holiday and found the staff friendly, fun and very helpful. The tourist menu was incredible value for money and the food was excellent. Our... More

Feels like home cooked food. We tried many places in Madeira how ever this was the best. Good food nice place with a nice balcony facing the sea. 5*****

I chose the budget menu and wish I hadn't. Very good value for money. soup was fine if nondescript. I then had Tuna with vegetables. It's only straightforward food with no embelishment, which is what I like. They gave me two tuna steaks which is generous, but both of them overcooked and rubbery, as tuna will be. So there was... Reasonable prices lured us in....my dorade was OK which arrived first. 5 mins later the baked cod dish arrived....not cooked. We summoned a waiter who took it away to be finished properly. Can't recommend this place, there's far better in the area.

Called in going up for ten, just a couple in . Still cooking we opted for the tourist menu. Not expecting the best but what a surprise. Basic choice but enough. Melon with ham melon with Madeira wine was acceptable. Mains of sirloin and roast chicken with nice crunchy carrots and broccoli and salad but the best home made chips.... More

Arrived on Christmas Eve and hadn't booked resort Gala Dinner so found this little place. Nothing posh, but hit the spot. I had squid, very tasty and hubby had steak. All well cooked and large portions. Kids menu was either lasagne or spaghetti bol, which was the only down side. 4 of us ate and had drinks for 45 Euros.... More

We ate at O Almofariz on our first night in Funcha as we arrived at the resort quite late and didn't want to walk too far to find food. We had the tourist menu, which was surprisingly good. Staff were polite and attentive, and brought complimentary drinks. The food was basic but well prepared and enjoyable.

We have never been disappointed with the tourist menu at lunch time. We usually have soup or the salad nicoise, the main and desert. Delicious food, excellent price and lovely waiting staff. The chips are freshly cooked and delicious. With drinks and coffee, you will not feel ripped off. Give it a try.
