Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Wonderful pub. Irish themed, with a bar downstairs as well as upstairs. Both bars service both floors, you can take your drink anywhere you’d like. On the weekends, they have a super cool thing called a “pub crawl”. It’s suuuper cheap, only about €25. The...crawl is amazing, and a can’t miss. Everyone is there, heads of all shapes and sizes. Overall 10/10 experience, i’d give it more stars if i could.More

We were 2 Irishmen on a first visit to Madeira & sough out Moynihan's based on previous customer reviews - what a disappointment.!! A soulless boring establishment that I would rate as very moderate at best - why it is called an Irish Bar is...beyond me - I could see very little Irishness about this establishment - the first thing on the menu is an 'English breakfast' - hello ,there is such a thing as an Irish breakfast.None of the staff appeared to be Irish & the main priority with the floor staff was to continually engage small talk with the barman,at least on the night that we visited. There are a few pubs in Funchal that are called Irish pubs - could not find one decent pub that merited the name, so Moynihan's have very little competition on this front.More

Big portions, well seasoned fish and chips, lasagna and Guinness pie. On Mondays and Fridays, the fish & chips portion also includes a drink at a special price.

Came here for Sunday roast. Decent pub grub with prices you’d expect to pay. My wife had the jacket potato with Chilli and I had the roast beef. Both good though would have been nice to get some horse radish sauce ! Nice atmosphere with...outside seating.More

Great quiz on Thursdays and the music, sports and general atmosphere is all you could ask for from a bar that serves food. It isn’t a restaurant as some reviewers think, but is a place to have a great time. Of course there may be...a wait at busy times but those who want to complain need to go elsewhere. Will return next time I’m on the island. Tadgh and Sinead are great hosts.More

Avoid like covid, terrible quality pub food with the most miserable and unfriendly waitress we have ever come across. If you want quality food with a genuine friendly service and reasonably priced then just across/ down the road is Arraial Da Imperatriz, which has 4...eateries under one roof.More

The chicken was very dry and it was lack of seasonings. Also the burgers meat was overcooked. I do not recommend this for a eating place!

The bar staff and waiting staff are always friendly and go out of their way to help. Big thank you to chef/s as food was very good as always.. We have been visiting for 10 years and make sure we get a table at least...2/3 times each visit to maderia. Even if we have to have a drink in the bar to wait for a free table. Sport is the added bonus as we are both football and rugby fans.More
