Chose this place from many nearby because of the beautiful setting and friendly chap at the door. The welcome was nice but the food mediocre at best. My two young boys were brought a giant portion of spag bog which was just spaghetti and some rather greasy, salty mince, no sauce or veggies in it and two token pieces of... More

Had they not forgotten about us after serving the starter, this would have been a great meal. However, we were left waiting so long for the main course, that we had gone right off the place. Staff wer appoloogetic and friendly but did not know what the problem was. Would probably give them asecond chance as food looked quite good

Our favourite restaurant during our madeira holidays :) It's a really lovely place, you can sit outside under some lighted trees. Beautiful! The team was nice and the food was tasty. I liked especially the Espada regional type (scabbardfish with Maracuja-sauce and a roasted banana) and the espetada (beef kebab). The prices were ok - from 14 Euros upwards. The... More

Well cooked food - attentive staff, excellent surroundings and the host welcoming you to the restaurant with a glass of Madeira wine is charming!

A regular of ours when we visit Madeira. Food is first class (both meat and excellent fish) and the service really excellent. The ambiance is fabulous- we chose to sit in the covered area of the garden in early January and it really is a delight to be eating out in a beautiful garden at that time of year. The... More

Went to this restaurant the 1st time because it was next to our hotel and we needed lunch after a long flight. As always we were warmly welcomed by Mr Smith a great character. The food was excellent and as a consequence we ate here a further two times one being New Years Eve. The food served here was always... More

We were, as the Brits say, knackered. But wanted to eat a bite before heading to bed. This beautiful restaurant-in-a-garden also has rooms inside, and it was a bit chilly (December), so we went inside. Could we just have soup and another starter? Não há problema, no problem whatsoever. Nice welcome (and good soup too).

Welcomed as long lost friends by the doorman with a Madeira wine. Very friendly and efficient waitresses. My wife went for the tourist menu and had avocado, sword fish and if cream. I opted for avocado and shrimps and swordfish. The fish was great ..very tasty. The vegetables were substantial. Had a half bottle of rose. Very tasty food and... More
