In the land of Archbishops and the edge of the Cathedral is a house that lives differently day and night. Restaurant during mealtimes, turns into a bar with live music the night away. The decor is a mix of various styles and eras, beginning with the ancient stone walls, contrasting with modern lamps and bold, colorful paintings as well as contemporary art. In the table, the art goes through dishes like feijoada octopus, cod and skewered with bread sticks bull laurel.

Our hotel recommended this restaurant and it is just a minute walk from our hotel. It is famous locally and frequented by lots of locals. It is a traditional Portuguese restaurant so food are a bit rustic and it stressed on ingredient. We had bacalhau Chef style and grilled fish. Delicious and fresh ingredient. The fish paste in the couvert was good. Excellent service from the beginning to the end. Recommended. (and better make reservation)

Quiet place with tasty food

Very nice location, a lot quieter than the busier streets. The staff were really pleasant and friendly. The grilled sea bass was excellent, really delicious! The chocolate mousse was also really good. The cheese board was a bit too expensive for the quality, but still pleasant. Lastly, I felt very safe dining here as every table was provided with hand sanitizers and all the staff were wearing their masks properly. Would visit again!

Worth bragging about in Braga!

A lovely lunch spot in the heart of Braga. We enjoyed a kind welcome and our reserved table was on the cosy first floor. Attentive, unobtrusive throughout our meal was matched by careful hands in the kitchen and a knowledgeable wine list. We opted for tuna pate and mussels vinaigrette as starters then a nice grilled fish and an octopus stew. I had a Pudim with a twist! A lovely Alvrinho was the back drop to our delicious lunch. 80e for 2, including a well-earned tip. Highly recommended!

Disappointing

Average food and very poor service. While the outside dining space was pleasant, the evening was not a success . I had treated my family to a meal at this restaurant which had been recommended. We sat down and ordered our food and wine, and our main course arrived without the wine. When we asked where it was the waiter then brought the wine list again! We pointed out that we had already ordered the wine, which he then went and got. We then ordered dessert to have with the rest of the wine, and after waiting 20 minutes we asked the waiter where the order was and he brought us the menu again! We then gave up and ashes for the bill! We won’t be back!

On the Terrace

07/07/2022 This evening was my first experience of the Cozinha de Se. I had been wanting to visit this restaurant having heard good things about it. Tonight was going to be a recci so as to take our own tourist guests to experience Portuguese cuisine. However, perhaps just back luck, a very busy night but........... the waiters were very pleasant and we did receive the menus quickly. After a brief review of "whats avaiable" we ordered starters. water and a bottle of wine. I think we also ordered our main courses concurrently. Water arrived first then a selection of starters from which we picked a few. After about twenty minutes our mains arrived.....but no wine......halfway through our food I had to call the waiter back to query where was our wine. He immediately brought the wine list back and when I pointed to the wine we had ordered some twenty minuted before, he suddenly realised that he had forgotten the order. Good thing was that we would be able to finish our wine during dessert. Sadly after an inordinate wait for the dessert to arrive we had enough and orderd the account. A very unfortunate experience which I do not wish to repeat.

Nice modern restaurant, great food, excellent service.

Had a wonderful lunch at Cozinha da Se. A nice modern restaurant, centrally located, and if you sit at the right spot you could have a nice view as well. The food was very good, and the service was excellent from the welcoming, until it was time to go. The waiter is just the right amount of attentive. Would go again next time I'm in Braga.

Nice place, friendly service, very bad meal, seafood dry and overcooked

High ratings attracted me to eat at this restaurant. The facility was charming and clean, service was friendly, but the food was, other than the dessert, beyond unappetizing. The vegetables were mushy, with little taste; the seafood appetizer was too overcooked and tough to chew much less eat. The seafood entree was overdone, dry and largely tasteless, a paltry portion with little flesh. A small piece of lemon, as far as it went, was the only flavor for the entree. Were I not a guest in this country, I would have sent both courses back. The dessert, happily, had a nice taste and texture.

Great Meal, Fine Location

Very close to the Cathedral of Braga, this restaurant is a cut above those in the surrounding area, which are mostly more casual. Classy service, great space, fine location, good food. I ate a meal that I've had many times in Portugal: bread with cheese and pate, octopus salad, and alheira sausage. Everything was perfect. Some good wine and dessert (Abade Priscos pudding) completed the meal. It was a mixed crowd. Some families (with well dressed and well behaved children), some couples, some older, some younger, only one other person whom I could hear speaking English. I had been told that this was one of the best restaurants in Braga, and I believe that is true. Highly recommended.

Good meal, good service

My wife & I turned up around 8pm without a reservation and whilst the outside open area was seemingly full we manged to get a table for 2 in the small covered area open to the elements, which was welcome as it was a very hot evening. I had the octopus 'pancakes' with apple puree and walnuts, which was very interesting combination. My wife had Francesinha with steak, egg and French Fries, also something we wouldn't have at home. Both were very enjoyable and coupled with a glass or two of vinho verde branco and attentive service, we had a pleasant final night to our Portugal holiday.

One of two dinners we had while staying in Braga, a wonderful destination. This resto was easy to find from our hotel Porto Nova -- just up the hill and with a big sign in front. Our table was ready in the upstairs terrace with retractable roof. It began to thunder, lightning, and rain slightly, but we stayed dry. Only 2 other tables in the terrace. I ordered the breaded octopus paired with applesauce and chestnuts. The combination was incompatible to me. My wife's veal steak was more palatable. Together with wine, flan, strudel with ice cream, and water, our bill was a mere 44E. Our group really loved their time here.

Looking at the reviews, stickers on front door, the expectation might have been too high as it only let down. A typical tourist trap, not bad but not good either. Vegetable soup was dirty water, no flavor whatsoever. The country that prides itself on soup, this was the worst. The rest is just fine, nothing special

Disappointing

Very disappointing! Great setting and menu! Unfortunately main course came before starter . Main course was then taken away and clearly put under a hot lamp! Unsurprisingly when it was then brought to us it was dried up. Staff clearly didn’t care nor apologise. Such a shame as could be lovely 🥲🥲 and not at all typical of Braga .

Great restaurant

Our hotel round the corner recommended this restaurant and we’re glad we could get a table at short notice. Lovely quiet garden setting and helpful staff. The food and service was great.
