A great place to eat good, tasty, interesting food at a very reasonable price. We thoroughly enjoyed all the dishes we ordered but the chicken spring rolls were so good we ordered more! With an excellent bottle of wine for 10 Euros, and friendly service, it was a very enjoyable dinner and a refreshing change from the traditional local restaurants. 10/10!!

"Pure dead brilliant!"

My wife & I had finished six days of walking in the hills of Northern Portugal and arrived in Braga for a short city break. Company that organised our walking (Inntravel) had recommended Casa De Pasto Das Carvalheiras so we tried it on our first night in Braga and were so delighted that we booked our second dinner there straight away! Menu was brilliant with a lot to choose from. It is done in tapas style and the way they are put together is fresh, inventive and very, very tasty! The people who served us were not just helpful and friendly. They were brilliant and a good laugh. One waiter now knows how to say “really very good indeed” the Scottish way! Title of this review is that!

Four and half stars: Worth visiting for something different.

We had a diner for three, with not much notice, and they happily found us a table on a busy night. We needed to get out in 1.5 hours because the table was booked after that. This didn't matter, because service was very quick. The menu is inventive combinations of Portuguese traditions with some Asian tastes. Mostly this works well, although sometimes I think they might be pushing the "inventiveness" a bit too far. Points for trying! We had four of the sharing style "tapas" dishes (best was seared tuna salad with wasabi peas... and turnip greens?), one dessert (brandied fig), one fruit plate, and three glasses of wine. This came to 70 Euro all up, and we were happy to tip on top. The wait-staff were very cheerful, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and (if it matters to you) very fluent in English. From 8pm, the place was getting full and buzzing: the other customers seemed to be local date-night couples, or groups of youngish Portuguese friends. Recommended!

Quirky place, good food

We stopped in here for lunch during our day in Braga soon after the place opened - sooner presumably than the staff expected anyone to walk in, as they were sitting at a table having their own lunch! They jumped to their feet to seat us, however, and we'd soon ordered and our food was ready. We weren't looking for a big meal so both ordered lighter meals/snacks: I took the smoked chicken spring rolls (tasty enough, if a little one-note and indeed one-ingredient) while my husband had the 'eggs a la Rui', which looked like a dish a student would make but which he enjoyed a lot. Overall we rather enjoyed our lunch and the decor of the place.

We come to Casa the Pasto for the excelent and nice service and amazing food. Cant stop to recomend this place for family, couples or even work purposes. We have been costumers since long time. Unfortunatly we dont live in Braga, and we miss this place ❤️

Got there with my partner , half an hour waiting until someone came to tell us what to do , whether there was as an available table or not. I mean come on . People here are not paying any attention to customers

A must in Braga!

The best meal I have had in ages! A small but varied menu suitable for most tate buds. Do book as the restaurant is quite small. Thoroughly recommended.

Great atmosphere, great food, great service.

Traveling alone can suck sometimes. Over a couple of weeks you start to crave human interaction, if only as a fly on the wall while you grab a bite to eat. Casa de Pasto is alive and active, full of local people enjoying a night out which is great to be a small part of. The service was good even though English was a struggle and my Portuguese was non-existent. It always pays to remember you are a guest in someone else’s country so them speaking your language is a luxury you should not assume. My waiter recommended the perfect number of tapas when he dropped off my bread and I followed his lead. I had the local favorite, a bed of fries with two perfectly cooked fried eggs (yolks runny) covered in Iberian ham and mayo. It was devine. This was followed with the selection of fried seafood, all different from my home in New Zealand but also familiar. Perfectly cooked they whisked you away to memories seaside. This was followed with the don, a favorite local dessert and a short black (good coffee). If you are looking for a vibrant place, full of locals enjoying themselves and beautiful local tapas you should come down to Casa de Pasto. It will be worth your while.
