Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A couple and two children do not always receive the best smile, as children mess up and do not always enjoy food. This was not the case at Jaco, whose waiter was kind and proposed good dish solutions for the children. The meal was excellent, with delicate and well served starters. But the highlight was a wonderful cod, simple but delicious. A long piece was served, with a juicy crumb and crunchy tips - a real delight and very original in the combination of the two consistencies. Correct desserts to complete a meal and two hours of enjoying the best that a table can offer us.

We had a fantastic meal at O Jacó. We ordered the rib cut steaks, which were cooked to perfection. The sides of greens, rice, and potatoes were also good. The restaurant offers very high quality food for a very reasonable price. The owner was also friendly and a lot of fun.

First you need to make a reservation , because it is always packed. The Famous dishes are: Cod Braga Style , Naco Fatiado (sliced sirloin ) , Polvo a Lagareiro (Grilled Octopus) e Papas de Sarrabulho (winter time). The staff is very friendly, the waiter is a character . Wine list is good . Desserts are good also. Prices go accordingly to the quality of products.

The waiter didn’t speak English, but was so relieved when we offered to speak Spanish, joking all the time about the drinks. The meals are all about €30, but meant to be shared for 2. We did that with the octopus after some small starters he recommended. All was fine- think twice about ordering an agardente (Schnaps), he makes them huge….

4 of us had a "walk in", on busy Easter Monday, only waiting 15 minutes for a table. The "couvert" of Portuguese savoury pastries was delicious and very much set our tastebuds tingling for the main event. Both couples had shared plates, beef and pork, which were very tasty and generous in the extreme. Accompanying vegetables were all delicious and fresh. A very good choice of wines, following our waiter's guidance, made for a really pleasant meal. The whole meal, including drinks and dessert, was very reasonably priced . The service and welcome were exemplary with nothing too much bother, even the "doggy bag" of the steak (which made a lovely supper in our accommodation). If you are in Braga, and I would recommend a visit, do check out O Jaco. It's a little bit out of the way, though only 5 minutes from the railway station, you wont be sorry.

Very accommodating staff. The delicious cod was huge! It was accompanied by vegetables, potatoes, eggs, olives, and more.

I've been to Jacó several times and it never dispoints! Very consistant every time. The menu is not to vast which is excelent in order to maintain consistency. I recommend the cod, sliced sirloin or octupus.

Visited this place with my husband. I had the steak roasted in pieces. My steak was very good - flavourful and tender. The amount of food is not as big as in typical Portuguese restaurants, but decent. Would definitely come back next time in Braga.

The restaurant is very comfortable and apparently well liked among the locals. The food was delicious and the portions were huge!!! Two "1/2 dosis" are enough food two people! We had "posta" (meat) and rice with bacalao and shrimp and both were amazing. The service was friendly and great, the restaurant was nice and the prices were really good too. I would definitely come back!

Located between the city centre and the train station, the restaurant has a sophisticated feel and is a comfortable place. Greeted by Sr Francisco, who is a master at the art of serving food, we were brought some Octopus (Lagareiro style) and steak. The Octopus was well cooked, with batatas a murro. The brocolli that came with it had been boiled to death and were one step close to mush, which was really a disappointing feat. The steak was thick, nice and rare and very very tasty! The price of a bottle of white wine, 1 dose of octopus and 1 dose of steak (+3 coffees) was €75, a bit of a push for Braga standards but (brocolli apart) worth the money. It is also the first Portuguese restaurant I went where 1 dose is more expensive than two 1/2 dose. Maybe the era of bulk is cheaper is drawing to an end...

This is not an easy place to find, but worth all the effort. A real gem. Local cuisine, simple and tasty. We had steak, rice and salad. Well presented. The staff is very gentle and helpful. The Portuguese wine very good. A place to return if traveling to Portugal again.

You must seek this place out and do not let the vicinity put you off. It is tucked away on a housing estate effectively. Inside it's a spotless well oiled fabulous experience. We went for the steak on coals which comes with rice potatoes and salad. You don't need a starter as the amuse voucher is large with a selection of the various croquettes on offer. With wine and a shared dessert it was unbelievable value at 55 euro. Amazing!!! A real gem.
