Either sitting inside or using the pavement covered area was a pleasure as everyone was so welcoming and friendly. Service good, with wide selection of teas, coffees and other beverages along with cakes.

We came here on our first night in Porto and the staff was lovely and really made us feel at home. The waiter tried to talk to us in spanish which was nice of him and had always a smile on his face. After a really good service and quick tasty food we came back the next day. The waiter... More

We went to this restaurant for a late lunch after arrival in Porto. Ordered calamaris and fried fish. Both were very nice and it was clear the the fish and calamaris were really fresh. Staff was friendly and fast.

We came in a little late - even by Portuguese standards - and the food was still quite nice! I had the cod and my wife had a surprisingly good pork dish... and they were quite tasty! Old school, so don't expect ambiance - other than an old bar... but I kinda like old school bar ambiance! Friendly staff and... More

We went to the Java on our first evening and the food was excellent. It is not a posh place but the food and people were well worth going to. We had a steak which had lovely vegetables and was cooked just as I asked. The meal was very reasonable and value for money. You can sit outside if you... More

I have visited here at least 38 times for a drink sometimes food, very good value, a bit rough at the edges, open until 2am used several times for food when Ryan air stupid flights times when anyone else was asleep. Cheap, basic food, been going over 100 years. Service can hit and miss, will make the euros last!

Went here a few times for a few drinks and would recommend this place. Prices are reasonable and the staff are good.

A very pleasant cafe/restaurant close to our hotel. We came here for drinks during a day spent sight-seeing in Porto. There was a good seating area outside and good shelter from the sun. What's not to like?

We wanted something simple for supper close to our hotel. We had a table on their terrace and were served by a very friendly and helpful waiter. However the quality of the food had much to be desired. The Mateus Rose was OK! The evening was lightened by a football match playing on the TV. Leicester beat Oporto.

Thank banglo
