We are here after seeing the great reviews online. Send an email to make a reservation. We were able to get a late 8:30 table reservation in the afternoon on the same day. After dinner we made another reservation for lunch 2 days later. The woman that runs the place is incredible. After our second visit, she gave my pregnant wife a little gift. Where else does this kind of hospitality happen?!?! All of the waitresses we had were top notch, spoke English and could explain the menu in full. Order the shrimp and brownie! SPECTACULAR!

Very busy restaurant, we were lucky to have a table after 5mins wait during lunch hour (suggest good make reservation in advance as I saw people waiting for an hour). Small kitchen but they churned out really good food! We ordered the monk fish soup, tuna tataki, clams and foie gras on toast. The white wine was really good and refreshing after a long journey to Porto. Price was really decent for the food quality! We like the restaurant as the restaurant staff doesn’t rush you and let you enjoy your meal in comfort :) I’ll be back if I do visit Porto someday!

I’m almost hesitant to write a review as I want to be able to get a table the next time I visit! However, I must write a review as this place is absolutely wonderful. It was our second visit and it was just as incredible as our first meal there! The food is fresh and delicious with a fusion of flavours.
The attention to hygiene was very impressive too, with well spaced dining spaces and cleaning of all surfaces regularly between diners. The staff are the loveliest most attentive and non-intrusive we have experienced.
You don’t want to miss this place!

We made reservations on the last night of this 2019 service based on a recommendation from friends. The team at Tapabento did not disappoint. My husband and I ordered nearly 10 things off the menu to sample, and ended up licking our plates clean. Please do not miss out on this amazing place.

We queued outside in the rain to make sure we got our table. We'd heard it was good from our host where we were staying and we weren't disappointed. Beautifully cooked food and friendly and unpretentious surroundings and service. The only possible complaint was that we unknowingly ordered too much and couldn't finish our food. I hate to send food back. I'm coeliac and I was carefully catered for. Wonderful seafood curry but there was so much, I didn't touch the rice that was on a separate plate. So it was like a Thai curry flavoured cataplana. Wonderful though. Next time I'm in the lovely town of Porto, we'll be sharing a main course so that I have room for the lovely deserts.

The food was delicious. We stopped by and made a reservation for the next evening with the hostess, as it was the best way to get a table in August. Our server was helpful. We shared small plates which were brought to us in both the right order as well as nicely spaced-out so we were not overwhelmed and hot dishes did not get mushy and tepid. Really enjoyable meal.

Lovely small restaurant, great food, but expensive for Porto. We sat upstairs which was less frantic than downstairs and we booked a table the previous day. Food was delicious and large portions, but wine particularly was expensive and not as good as other places. Overall, nice food, but seems expensive as we had equally lovely food in Porto at less cost.

A recommendation from the Concierge in our hotel and I can see why. This is a compact tapas restaurant to the side of the Sao Bento Train Station and well worth a visit........if you can get in. We shared Slow-Cooked Bisaro Pork Shoulder Focaccia, Wild Tuna Tataki and a Potato Tortilla. Star of the show was the tuna which absolutely bounced with flavours. It’s served with gherkins, seaweed strips, samphire, teriyaki sauce, soya, grated apple, lemon spheres and cucumber ice cream. All complimented each other and contributed in their own way to a truly memorable taste explosion. We washed it all down with a bottle of the house red and headed off into the night well & truly happy.

I came here yesterday. The staff are super friendly as always in Portugal. The seats upstairs are airy with the balcony open and wind blowing in. Super relaxing.
I went for the shrimp risotto. The dish was delicious. It was on the small side and after a long day of walking around it hardly filled my stomach. I was a little disappointed and felt it was a bit pricy to pay for a small portion.
Many people are giving fantastic reviews. Please dont let my review put you off.

This is a fabulous restaurant with delicious food and friendly and helpful staff. We didn’t have a reservation but they fitted us in and we’re so delighted they did. The food was off the charts-the tuna was one of the best things I’ve ever tasted but everything we ordered was top class. The service was excellent-our server was very friendly and chatty and made great recommendations. I couldn’t recommend this place highly enough.

We arrived by a complete accident to this place, asking if they have a table for 2, the waitress replied politely that she needs to ask the manager since we didn't ha2a reservation. The manager approached with a big welcome and lead us to our table. The staff was sooo nice and attentive, we inquired about the meals and they explained patiently. The was amazing, every single bite was perfect. We had the foccacia with tomatoes, zucchini with parmigiana, tuna tartar, wild shrimps risotto and for dessert the cup with crema, everything was spot on, and the price is certainly acceptable. They have an upstairs and a sidewalk tables, we sat upstairs, it was causy and very comfortable.
It's a must when visiting Porto.

We took a chance on this one as we hadn't booked and it was already halfway through lunch service. A wonderful woman squeezed us in and , even though they were busy, gave us more of her time than she should.
The food (razor clams and Gambas) was absolutely delicious. A beautiful bottle of local wine to wash it down, a bit of bread - we lunched like royalty.
Fantastic service, amazing food, wonderful ambience. Can't wait to return.

The serving was really bad and the menu is not complete. I asked for a plate with iberico ham, manchego cheese and pesto... it came after a long waiting time event though there were just cold cuts, there was no manchego cheese and it had garlic which was not written anywhere in the menu. I have no clue how this restaurant can have such good rates.

Dear Cristina, I do not know when you came to visit us. Since we re open (we open on the 4th of May after 5 months beeing closed) we do not have this kind of dish in our menu. In fact, we never had Iberian ham, manchego cheese and pesto as one dish. Last year we had: 1, board of Iberan ham with several cheeses (no pesto), 2 board of iberiam ham or 3, board of cheese (never with pesto together). What we have with Pesto is our Bruschetta ( tomato, basil pesto and bread).
What we do have in our 2021 menu is Pan con tomate and Iberian Ham. Garlic belongs to tomato bread, as oliveoil too.
We feel sorry that you do not love garlic.
When you mean the menu is not complete I cannot figure out what do you really mean. If you mean the ingredients, we cannot put all the ingredients of a recipe in the menu. If you don´t like something or are alergic to something or you have any question, you can tell us so we can improve or advise something for you.
Here at Tapabento we all speak fluently english and we do our best to understand and please all our nice visitors because we love what we do and what we serve.

Excellent small restaurant. Very casual in an old fashion house from Porto, very centrally located beside S.Bento Station.
Food very tasty, staff very attentive and friendly. Must reserve before and normally fully booked and that already speaks by itself. I would say prices are a bit over compared to other local restaurants, however nothing expensive for the quality of food. Will be back.
