Visited here on a chilly Friday night, where we were warmly welcomed by a lovely lady ( sorry didn’t catch your name) we ordered the rump steak to share which was huge and probably the best steak I had tasted since visiting this beautiful town...for some years now. Try this restaurant you will not be disappointed.More

Based on this restaurant being nr. 10 of 209 in Viana on Trip Advisor, we thought this was a safe choice for dinner. But it proved to be a very bad experience. With an open air concert on in town, the restaurant filled up and...being staffed by only one waitress, it took forever to get service and our meals. This is simply irresponsible management. My wife and I ordered the shared T-bone steak, medium done. The two other guests at our table got their meals before us and were already eating when our T-bone came. It was a single 5cm thick steak totally rare only 1cm in from the side! How is this possible at a reataurant specializing in steaks!? Even an amateur cook can tell a steak is rare. So she took the steak back. When it returned it was cut into small pieces and cooked medium, but then our potatoes and vegetables were cold/partly eaten, and our friends were done eating. I told the waitress and asked her twice for new warm potatoes and vegetables. This came 10 minutes later when we had eaten most of the meat... The next day when I looked at the bill she had even had the audacity to charge us EUR 5,50 for the extra potatoes and veggies!!! Needless to say, we are never going back here, other than to claim the EUR 5,50 back today!More

Amazing food and service in the wonderful city of Viana do Castelo. The steaks are amazing and the portions huge. We will definitely return!

The restaurant, by the river, looked very modern and smart, but we were very unhappy with the food. The steaks were not cooked as requested and the mustard sauce tasted mainly of cheap vinegar. The staff were friendly but couldn’t do a lot to help...and we were glad to leave.More

We both ordered a different steak, both were excellent. The "cuisson" was also as requested, which is becoming a rare thing these days (usually overbaked, but not here). Staff was friendly and efficient. Recommended for sure!

Found this place through google search and all the positive reviews just made it easy to decide. We came early, just after the opening time which made it very easy to get help with the menu and friendly waiter to help us with our choice....We skipped the starters and kind of made it the other way around. Ordered the Beef tenderloin with shrimp and Beef tenderloin with peppercorn sauce (unfortunately couldn’t get the Tbone on the day and the cutlet was just way to big for me). Got bottle of Vallado to go with the meat nicely and food came right away. Chef came to see us just after we’ve started which was a very nice touch as well. The food itself, very nicely presented, full of aroma and flavour was just amazing! Steaks both cooked as we wanted, shrimps with nice garlicky and butter juice, peppercorn sauce delicious (enough for me to wipe the last bits with potato wedges). As we had still enough wine to go through we did order some more starters and got cheese with fig jam and olives with a bit of bread, again all very tasty. The restaurant filled then quite fast and the atmosphere got nicely buzzy, keeping the staff busy. I really liked the decor, place is nicely kept clean and tidy, theres also couple of tables outside, which will get probably busy in the summer, but we were happy inside still with enough view at the ships in the harbour. This is a place I would definitely recommend to anyone (there’s not just steaks on the menu) and certainly would come back if visiting Viana again. Thank you!More

Hi, visited the sr bife on a tuesday evening. A nice little place on the quay side 😃. I ordered the tenderloin; Good quality meat, but sadly it was not fried to perfection. In the centre it was raw and to the sides medium done...( i ordered it medium ). And I must have got it wrong on the menu because it was served with only potato chips and a minimum of sauce. The service was Good quality, Price was ok. I will recommend the place, if they get the steak right next time.More

We found Sr. Bife from a Yelp search. Family owned and run establishment on the river of Viana do Castelo. It was the beginning of the off season, (a wonderful point to consider..) and the restaurant was not busy. The woman, (wish I remembered her...name,) matriarch of the establishment I believe, was uber helpful. She brought three different bottles of wine to our table to view over, giving some explanation of each, (English was not her first language, but as I have found in Portugal, this does not defer this wonderful nation to help out their customers.) The wine, as shown, was fantastic. We started off with a sausage appetizer that we shared. She explained after we had eaten that this was blood sausage. I probably would never have ordered it if I had known. It was actually delicious with a rich smokiness. Our main was their surf and turf. Large steak portion, with shrimp atop wonderful creamy mashed potatoes. Highly recommended!More

We tried to go to another restaurant we had heard was amazing, but it was packed and had a waiting list a mile long.....so we decided to wander the neighborhood and see what else was available. We stumbled upon this place and were a bit...worried that it was only half full (we are from NYC and it was already 8:45 pm, but we didn't realize the Portuguese don't eat until 9:00 - 9:30ish). So we looked it up on Trip Advisor. The reviews were promising and we took the advice of several reviewers. We ordered the cod pastries and grilled shrimp with garlic.....both were amazing! Then we ordered the grilled sardines and the pork w/ clams. Wow!!!! The flavors of both dishes were so clean, fresh and simple. We asked for more bread to soak up the sauce of the pork w/ clam dish bc it was sooooooo delicious! The white sangria was a great pairing with everything. Then we shared the bolo de bolacha dessert....holy schmoly good! If you are in Lisbon, you have to go here. The food is unbelievable and the service is warm, friendly and not to be missed!More
