We had lunch at Tasquinha today. It is very popular, and it became crowded (and it had also been full yesterday evening) very fast. Staff is very friendly, service is quite fast. As to food, big portions sure, but nothing really spectacular. Great location too....But I am not sure if I would go back.More

Not impressed. We were expecting way better given the high rate on trip advisor. Price/quality not worth it. Friendly staff though, but food was just average...

Although this restaurant was highly rated by my Air BnB hosts, I found the general atmosphere, service and food rather underwhelming. It was evident from the waiter/service that the restaurant was generally used to catering to a tourist clientele. as the service was a bit...condescending. I was told to order the pepper steak as it was "effing" delicious -- with such an enthusiastic endorsement, I decided to choose the steak. Unfortunately, it was not delicious -- the plate was absolutely covered with generic brand potato chips -- after wading through the chips which involved putting most of them on a napkin on the table, there was a tough cut of steak buried underneath and covered with a pepper steak gravy that evidently came from a packet mix. This is the first time in many years of travels in Portugal that I have been disappointed by the restaurant atmosphere and meal I have ordered. Fortunately, my other meal experiences in Viana were considerably better.More

We went because it had a lot of good reviews and they are well deserved. Even though it’s on the riverfront where you might expect the tourist joints to be, it’s working hard to please and doing a good job of it. The service is...informal but sincere and very friendly. The menu is quite straightforward with several salt cod dishes in different styles and also some meat dishes but what comes is very nicely done indeed and also generous. There’s a really nice buzz about the place and a constant stream of people coming and going so much so that it was full all evening with a small queue waiting outside. They also have a selection of German and Belgian bottled and draft beers which makes a nice change. It was a fun evening of good food in a nice location and you can’t fault that.More

Great friendly service. Extensive menu of both lighter dishes and FULL size main courses, which you can easilly share. We had a cod fish gratin with mash potatoes, which was rather average and with lots of bone. The desserts were excellent, especially a toffie style...condensated milk dessert served in a jar. A good eating place, but nothing fancy.More

We visited this restaurant for dinner. As the place is small, we had to wait for a table. We chose the Francesinha à Tasquinha, what was delicious and very well cooked. Ask the house wine to be served and you will be delighted, even if...the prices are a bit high.More

I went to a Tasquinha da Praça for dinner during my stay in Viana. It's centrally located and the ambiance resembles the one from a family-owned traditional little restaurant. The menu offers a nice range of local delicacies and the prices are quite affordable. Service...was efficient and friendly, be ready to wait for a table though as no reservations are possible.More

Location was good by the harbour, with pleasant views. Very popular, so get there before 8pm if not booked. Dining out in Viana not brilliant generally, but this restaurant is fine. We had perfectly acceptable lasagna, steak, chicken with mushrooms sauce. Desserts so so. Wine...excellent, as in others restaurants here. Great value Douro wine for 9€ a bottle.More

Lovely spot near the water on the plaza. Eat inside or outside. We especially liked the Tasquinha with hamburger and homemade chips (these are potato chips not fries). The bread and sauce are yummy. Also, the chicken lasagna was delicious. They have multiple food and...beverage options, something for everyone in your party.More

We ate dinner here on the first night of our holiday. Following the waiters advice - his mother was the chef - we tried the cod baked with a corn bread crumb. It was delicious but the portion was really too big for us so...you have to go there hungry. The service was excellent and the waiter willing to make recommendations.More

Came across this restaurant just by chance after wandering down to the waterside. Glad we went there. Met by a very friendly staff with a little banter, which when we gave some back made for a pleasant evening. Really nice atmosphere. The food we had...was very nice and very well cooked. They offer a selection of local starters which you don’t have to have. I would say try them. For our mains we had 5 pepper steak, lasagne and salad. The prices I would say were pretty good. Not over priced. Even the beer was a good price. Overall I would say definitely worth a look. Did see some negative comments on here. But I would say they were unjustified. As in most restaurants, they are as good as you make them.More

The only reason for giving this dump a star is for their beer. But even the beer is pricy for the area. The restaurant overall is really below average. The starters are way too expensive: Toasted bread (probably to conceal that it wasn’t fresh), along...with some olives and tuna pate cost 10€!! But the worst part was the main dish: Flavorless chicken lasagne with more cheese than pastry. And my steak a la tasquinha came with pineapple and chips! (I should have asked in advance and we should have left) At 14€ you would expect a whole lot more. The place is not suitable for couples. It was packed with families with kiddies.More
