Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

delicious pies. They are not expensive and make for a great start to the day. Our family had a variety of both savory and sweet pies and all were devoured. The more doughy Korou pies were perhaps less popular than the more ubiquitous phyllo based...pies.More

We had found out about Ariston through YouTube & the pies didn't look amazing on the videos but we wanted to check out what was special about it. We went early in the morning & the staff who got the order for us was friendly...but the one who took payment was grouchy. Ordered a spanakopita with spinach & cheese & a feta kourou. The pies were still warm & the filling for the spanakopita was generous. The pastry was really interesting as it's not filo & the kourou was actually reminiscent of curry puff pastry in South East Asia. Overall, we liked what we got from Ariston & were glad we stopped by. They have a wide range of pies & which should fit most palates, if not all! Do check it out when you're in Athens!More

True to its name, Ariston is indeed excellent and remains my absolute favorite pita shop. Centrally located right off Syntagma, it offers friendly service and a wide array of pita with multiple fillings and pastries. Their spanakopita remains unrivaled.

A truly must visit for pastry lovers. Totally charming and genuin. Above the entrance, there is a door sign saying established 1910 but I think they said owned since 1906 by one family. Take your time and take away vicely :-) You cannot sit here...and enjoy, but don’t let that stop you. Not sweets only. If you are up for take away breakfast or lunch, this should be among your top possible choices. One of my favorite big city to do’s is to visit pastry shops. I can tell that this is good stuff.More

My favorite pie shop in Athens. It has a wide range of savoury pies that’s not just spanakopita and tyropita. Highly recommend.

The place has existed for 110 years. There are loads of pastries with cheese. And the price is really cheap. Breakfast is recommended instead. The facts of the place are true Greek that provide excellent service. Highly recommended

Tucked "around the corner" from the main drags in the historic downtown Athens' city center, Ariston is a culinary trip to older times...tastier times... Sumptuous varieties of traditional hand pies (in Greek: πιτες ταψιου -- or literally baking dish pies) served "to go" in this...traditional bakery. I make a point to visit every time I am in Athens. It's a testament to the flavors and fresh ingredients, that despite three other "pie places" surrounding Ariston, there is still a modest line (don't worry, it moves fast) out their door! Next time you're near Syntagma square, make a point to stop by. The Fennel Pie is one of my favorites...More

My family visited Athens in October 2019. During our visit, we stopped by the Artiston bakery almost daily. The selection of quality baked goods was excellent and delicious. They were also very friendly to our infant daughter. Delightful people and excellent food - it doesn't...get much better!More

A wonderful traditional bakery. No frills just a great selection of superb pastries. Pastry is very flaky and the fillings are delicious. The chicken bacon is excellent, as is the apple & walnut.

This is a small unassuming bakery, very close to Sintagma square with a great selection of traditional Greek pastries. It looks and is prepared old school and tastes fantastic. Especially recommended is the "bougatsa" - a filo and milk cream pastry, considered to be a...typical on the go breakfast. You should also try the various "pita" - savory filo pastiesMore

Heard about this one through a ‘best in Athens’ list and it certainly serves very good pies. Spanakopita was delicious as was the fresh cream ( like ricotta) pie. Lovely friendly service too.
