What an amazing experience! As we walked into this rooftop restaurant, I was amazed at how perfect the view even though, being winter, the restaurant was completely closed in with a glass surround and a flowing fabric retractable ceiling - all of which is removed...in summer (so we will be back!). The tables were beautifully set and the greeting both from the gentlemen on the ground floor, and the servers on the roof, were warm and welcoming. We have been in Athens for 4 days and have had some lovely food - but this was definitely a step above! We started with Saganaki Eggplant and warm pita and a perfect Chardonnay. What a delight. It was whilst we were eating our appetizer that the group of 20 or so walked in. We marveled at their rudeness as they put fingerprints all over the windows whilst taking the obligatory photo - and hoped their arrival would not ruin the atmosphere. I'm happy to say it did not! The team was as attentive as ever to us, an the group was served straight away - which showed brilliant planning on the part of Strofi! The noise level was just the great buzz one wants when dining out. And then, our beautiful meals arrived. My husband had the Kid goat roasted in parchment with gruyere, tomatoes and potatoes. It the most tender and flavorful goat I have ever had (of course I tried it!). I had the Lamb wrapped in grape leaves stuffed with feta and gruyere (sorry - the only photo I actually remembered to take). It was just perfect! I was a little put off because the menu says "boiled vegetables". I don't know what I was expecting but these appealing strips of al dente carrots and zucchini were the perfect compliment to this dish. The roasted potatoes were the best I've had in ages - and I live in England where "roasties" are a big deal! The Greek Pinot Noir was a brilliant compliment and not usually the variety we pick. Also unusual - we ordered dessert! Sharing a Spanakopita was a brilliant idea and following it with an iced glass of Mastiha - simply because we wished to linger - ended the evening on the perfect note. I highly recommend this restaurant. There are so very many to choose from but I can promise you that you won't be disappointed!More

Came for New Year’s Eve. Arrived early at 840 for a 9pm reservation, said I can wait or come back based on my early arrival. Was happily greeted to start. I expected a paced 5 course meal but by 915 I was served my salad...and main course simultaneously in a 5 course meal, they were 3 and 4. No course was stellar… soup was rather passé and no excitement. Mushroom arancini had no mushroom umami flavor. Then the salad and main came at the same time. Salad was under flavorful based on description and expectation from the restaurant. Pork for the main course, no flavor at all. It was an easy turn and burn menu for a New Year’s Eve to sell as much as possible and move through customers. I’m not even having dessert and still sitting in the restaurant as I write this. Less than one hour and I’ll be finished with what should be a 1.5-2 hour meal, especially on a holiday. I am a chef. I have traveled to over 30 countries and seek out what are the best choices from locals, travelers and reviewers. Highly disappointed by this experience and would suggest anyone an off the street taverna, which was my lunch and much more solid, than this meal.More

We just stumbled upon this place - but it turned out to be one of the best meals of our entire visit to Athens. The restaurant is beautiful with a high-end feel. View of the Acropolis is wonderful. The service is excellent. And the food...is superb. We made lunch of just a few appetizers and they were all fantastic. We left very satisfied after an exquisite lunch that didn't even include a main course. Definitely try this restaurant. I bet it's fantastic at dinner too.More

This restaurant was recommended to us by friends who had visited Athens. Make sure you request a table on the terrace when you make your reservation. The view of the Parthenon all lit up at night was spectacular and worth it. The ambiance was lovely,...the waiters were attentive. The food was great.More

After viewing the Acropolis and its Museum, we lunched here. We ordered the grilled octopus, calamari snd big beans with spinach as appetizers accompanied with some local Pilsner beers. The appetizers were just delicious and seasoned to perfection. So, we were very excited for our...next courses. Unfortunately, our next courses just were not as good as the appetizers. For entrees: goat wrapped in parchment ( tasty and safisfying), veal with rosemary ( the meat was tender but tasted like it was marinated in vinegar) and two orders of veal and potatoes cooked in tomato sauce in claypot( the meat was over cooked and dried. Tasted more like tough braised beef - not tender at all. Don’t order this dish! The service was good: friendly and efficient. The view of the Acropolis could not be beat !More

My wife and I went there for our final meal in Greece. At first, I was skeptical since reviews here were hit or miss and there were higher rated restaurants. I'm glad I listened to the travel guide book I bought and not TripAdvisor. This...was by far the best meal we had in our 3 weeks in Greece. The food complemented the gorgeous views of the Acropolis. Only recommendation is to reserve the terrace in advance, otherwise you might not see the amazing views.More

Situated just a block below the main road circling the Acropolis, one goes to Strofi for the nice Parthenon views when outdoor dining. While the setting is pleasing to the eye; the tongue is not so lucky as the food is mostly mediocre. The lamb...dishes (we had 2 different ones) were equally a “C” at best. The sea bass dish was slightly better but not what one would expect in a restaurant of this purported caliber. Our group was so underwhelmed to disappointed with the meal that we elected to get dessert elsewhere. I’d rather have a great meal in a place with no view, than a mediocre meal in a place with a nice view. I already had nice views of the Acropolis from my hotels rooftop dining, and just walking the streets of Athens. Can’t recommend and won’t be back.More

Booked this before setting off as a treat for the family . On arrival the view didn’t disappoint ( book in advance to have a rooftop table) very beautiful. However the food was just mediocre . The service from one was excellent but let down...by others - some of our order didn’t arrive despite it having been confirmed when ordering - plates passed to us to distribute - wine glasses removed and then returned. Just felt that the service was very disappointing.think more attention was being paid to the large group that was there .wouldn’t dash back and would find another restaurant with view next timeMore

Our first lunch the moment we arrived in Athens city center. Came for the view and the food. Has good menu selection also in English. Price range just about right for the atmosphere, specifically paying for the amazing view and good food. Worth the $$....Our server, Manos was nice. We ordered Pork Fillet filled with roasted tomatoes,Graviera, and pepperswith garlic tomatoe sauce with roasted vegetables and baked potatoes, Batter fried Cod with vegetables, steam potatoes, and garlic, Fresh Whistle fillet on the grill with vegetables and steam potatoes, and Fried Squid. They did not charge for the bottled water. Overall, Strofi is definitely highly recommended, Clean, wonderful view, and pleasant ambience. Must go-to restaurant, and I love the view during our visit between 1:00-2:00 PM. Thanks, Manos.More

Stumbled upon this lovely hotel/restaurant on recent visit to Athens, we saw there was a rooftop terrace offering spectacular views of the Acropolis. It was mid afternoon & given 42 degrees of heat it seemed like an ideal time to stop for a drink! Unfortunately...the staff said it wasn’t possible to have a drink without eating which was slightly surprising as there wasn’t anyone up there, however we 2 starters & wine and water & enjoyed the stunning view in cool, fanned restaurant. The marinated anchovies & crisp salad were delicious & the waiter lovely and friendly as are the majority of the Greek people we chatted to. Well worth a visit (lots of famous people have stayed here including Mikhail Gorbachev when he was President of USSR) Wish we had more time here as would have revisited in the evening for dinner….next time!!More
