This was recommended to us. Mostly dishes to share, which we liked. Leek pie, tasty meatballs with special tomato sauce, We visited twice.

My boyfriend and I came here last weekend for dinner after seeing amazing trip advisor reviews. We were looking for an authentic Greek restaurant to try out traditional Greek foods. I have to say this restaurant was absolutely amazing and out of all the places we dined at in our 3 days in Athens it was by far the best... More

Good beef meals and delicious salad. Keep in mind that you've to order sidedishes yourselves since this 'old-fashioned' restaurant doesn't serve e.g. pita or fries themselves. The honey-cinnamon rakia is very good.

Great food, wine and location. We ate traditional Greek food and we were astonished by its quality (especially compared to other restaurants). Furthermore, you get good value for money (and you eat very much!). Absolutely recommended!

Came to this restaurant in the morning just before flying out of Athens since it's just next door to the airbnb room I was staying in. It is in a super cute setting. When I came the restaurant hadn't even officially opened yet but the waiter was nice enough to let me sit and order. I had freddo coffee that... More

It is the third time in this restaurant and each time worth it. The service is very friendly and the food just delicious. The ambiance is cute and cosy like an old living room.

came here for some authentic greek cuisine. a lot of cheap vinegar in kalamata olives and eggplant salad. meatballs with THE sauce are made from the frozen meat and sauce from canned tomatoes with lots of citric acid. grilled cheese is so salty that seems it has a weekly amount of salt you need. as a cherry on top you... The decor, the atmosphere is worth a visit. It could be Marrakech with its comfortable couches, Haifa or... Athens. The food is not great but it does not matter, Kafeneio is in another world. Nice music to go by, pleasant lighting. Very interesting "unmarked" --meaning no-label-- syrah 2009 unfiltered which I recommend, as long as the stock lasts. The much... More

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
