Just eaten here. Great authentic Greek food, very friendly and great value for money. No frills (in a good way). Lovely spinach and feta pie, fantastic Tzatziki and wonderful kebab, chips and pita. Highly recommended...and the beer is good and cold too!

The gyros lived up to the reviews. My girlfriend ordered the pork and I the chicken. The Taziki sauce was delicious and the owner Connie brought out a full plate of it when I asked for extra. Connie greeted us at the door and went above and beyond to provide exemplary service and conversation. I would recommend this restaurant to... More

We ate here three times on our recent visit to Athens. It was close to our hotel and good value for money. The portions are HUGE (not always a good thing) and cooked fresh to order but the wait wasn't long. The toilets are clean. However despite all these positive observations I found the place to be more of a... More

We dined twice at the restaurant during our Christmas visit to Athens. Food is fresh and very tasty. The restaurant is in good neighborhood, close to the Acropolis, is well-attended by both foreigners and locals and is reasonably priced. We highly recommend the restaurant to any Athens visitor.

We ended up here by an accident and stayed here by a choice. We've been amazed to see they spare no expenses on portion size which is a problem in certain parts around the center, it's quality and no special dishes except - they are made with love! Souvlaki, pita bread gyros, tzalziki...We had no complaints. Smoking allowed in a... More

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighbourhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianised Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centrepiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
