A nice place in Plaka that we visited over and over again. It has the finest collection of Greek wines, a superb atmosphere , a nice staff, great ouzo (of their own) and a large collection of liquers. The owner is always approaching the patrons and wants to learn things about each one of them.

This is a must see in Plaka district, for a Cocktail or Uzo. The restaurant in the basement offer a traditional Greek food on a good price.

I heard this store from an Anthens food documentary. Turns out to be very close to where we live on the way from Plaka to Acropolis. We asked what's special to the store and were introduced a few options (other than wine). We tried a mongo and pear cocktail, the aroma and after taste were superb! It's such a fun... More

A small and quaint place that does a great job with their selection. Bartender was attentive and helpful in making a choice among the near endless options. Got a bit smoky for us though, but that is purely an American viewpoint and didn't bother the locals one bit. We didn't eat; only there for after dinner drinks.

This place is rad, we loved this place. The owner was especially friendly and the woman behind the bar was an artist with the drinks. She was very honest about what she thought we would and wouldn't like and was spot on every time. They pour the ouzo and their brandy from the oak barrels in the pictures.

This is not a restaurant. Lady behind the bar was very unhelpful: we asked if they were serving food, she said no. Suggested they update their listing to reflect that they do not serve food and she was downright rude in pointing us downstairs to a completely different place. Some friendliness wouldn't have cost anything.

This is a fantastic place to come for a drink. Their choice of wine is extremely wide but their homemade brandy is a must! I am not a huge fan of brandy and the only one I really love is Metaxa but their homemade brand is equally superb. We visited this place on a couple of occasions and had a... More

1 bar and one restaurant in Plaks. Ouzo and Liquer bar. Really cool place with fantastically coloured displays of drinks.

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
