Really friendly staff, great service, good food and a pleasant vibe. All this plus a view of the Acropolis make this an excellent spot for a quick drink or a long leisurely meal. My other half recommends the Greek Tasting Platter and I really enjoyed the Veal Steak with fries.

The meal was ok, good atmosphere but the food was average. The staff are very nice but feel it was over priced. But having said that it is good wine bar with cocktails and snack.

We came across this cafe then realised it had mega good reviews! Lived up to the expectations Situated on a gorgeous little street with plenty of cafes but can be easily distinguished by how busy this is! Recommended by the staff spring salad, ravioli and salmon! All 3 tasted amazing! Chilled vibe inside and gorgeous decor!

We stopped for our daughter to eat dinner and it was a limited menu so we ended up getting her the pizza. It was delicious. I would recommend this spot for pizza.

We came to Yard at about 10:30am but the place opens at 7am so a great place to come to before starting your day at the Acropolis. It is located 10 seconds walk from the Acropolis station next to a couple of other restaurants. I had the Greek yoghurt which exceed expectations. Great traditional Greek yoghurt for €6.50, loads of... More

We went there based on our tripadvisor research. Sorry, but had the worst lamb shops and gyros. The drink menu is fine - so maybe have a drink and watch the people!

Our first night in Athens we found Yard. Aussie/Greek Chris greeted us warmly and made us feel at home. I had the pork Gyros platter, my husband the Moussaka and chicken pizza for the kids, as well as a lovely fresh Greek salad. The staff were welcoming and attentive. It was nice to be attended to by adults that knew... More

Service was the best we have had in Athens. We had the tasting plate which was amazing day. We'd definitely recommend it to others. Also one of the rare places that had cocktails which equally as amazing and well priced

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighbourhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianised Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centrepiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
